Sea Shepherd: Plastic Seal, Plastic Turtle

Sea Shepherd Print Ad - Plastic Seal, Plastic Turtle

A simple plastic bag seems harmless, but it can represent extreme suffering – and even death – for thousands of animals in the oceans. Depicting this unfortunate truth through strong images, Sea Shepherd, an NGO focused on the conservation of marine wildlife, is launching a plastic awareness campaign.

3D ads have been created in partnership between Tribal Worldwide São Paulo and DDB Guatemala, that bear the caption, “The plastic you use once tortures the oceans forever.”

The ads show different marine animals such as seals and turtles in extreme agony after coming in contact with plastics from items used in our daily lives and generally discarded without any special care. The 3D production was developed by Notan Studio.

Samsung CMO Marc Mathieu departs company

Marc Mathieu, Samsung USA chief marketing officer, is departing the company after nearly four years. Samsung declined to say who will hold the electronic manufacturers top marketing gig, or where Mathieu is heading next.

“Marc has left Samsung Electronics America to pursue opportunities outside of the company,” a Samsung spokesman said in an emailed statement. “Marc was a valued leader who made significant contributions during his tenure at Samsung. We thank him for his time and efforts, and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Mathieu joined the company in July 2015 following stints at Unilever and Coca-Cola. During his tenure he helped guide Samsung to record-breaking profitability, overcoming some highly publicized stumbles. In August of 2016, Samsung’s much-anticipated Galaxy Note 7 smartphone began catching fire and by October of that year, the Department of Transportation had banned the phone from commercial airplanes.

Rather than launching a new product we recommended launching a new branded investment approach called – Fortified Investing. This enabled us to package the entire offering of 3 new liquid alternative funds, their existing mutual funds, their advisor education program and their thought leadership around portfolio construction under one more compelling banner. This would separate them from all the new product launches hitting the street while amplifying their expertise and tenure against the big banks.

Our communication strategy was to position the new comers as inexperienced, that would open advisors up to unnecessary risk who were considering going into liquid alternatives, effectively positioning them before they could position themselves.

Our creative (consisting of website launch and corporate posters) demonstrated the sophisticated expertise required to invest, through the use of a “chemistry” metaphor and the line – The chemistry of alternatives. Chemistry requires exact formulas for things to work properly and this was the essence of why Picton was the better choice.
