Jimmy Fallon imagines how Trump would Memoji himself: watch the clip

Jimmy Fallon may have a reputation for being less political than his late-night TV peers, but in the wake of President Trump’s accidental stand-up comedy routine at the United Nations on Tuesday (see: “Donald Trump bragged about himself to the United Nations. The UN laughed,” per CNN), the “Tonight Show” host devoted most of his monologue to mocking the (theoretical) leader of the free world. After playing the clip of Trump getting laughed at (“Trump hasn’t heard that much laughter since his night with Stormy Daniels,” the host joked), Fallon also served up an exclusive clip of a Memoji-fied Trump talking about his day at the UN. It begins with Trump (who sounds suspiciously like Fallon imitating Trump) saying,

Look at me! I’m a Memoji! Everyone’s been talking about these things. I love Memojis because they have the word “Me.” Anyway, I’ve had such a fantastic time speaking at the United Nations, or as it’s also known, “the un.” It’s my favorite “un,” right after my bestie, Kim Jong-un. And it makes sense why they invited me to speakI mean, people are always comparing me to the un. I’m unfit, I’m unqualified and I’m don’t un-derstand grammar.

You can hear the rest in the segment above, which should automatically start at the Memoji portion of the monologuebut if it doesn’t, just jump ahead to 2:41 mark.

Eating your own martech

Ad agencies are notoriously poor at applying their craft to their own brands, but martech companies don’t have that problem. Marketo and Hubspot are masters of inbound marketing, in which brands draw potential customers to them with tactics such as content marketing and search optimization. Salesforce is really good at using Salesforce to sell itself. And DemandBase, a leader in so-called account-based marketing, or focusing on key prospects instead of industries, is particularly adroit at creating campaigns that apply all of the tactics it advocates.

In my conversation with Peter Isaacson, the chief marketing officer at DemandBase, he shares many of the lessons the company has learned as it grew. They include involving sales from day one, proving effectiveness with a pilot effort, appreciating prospect “anonymity” and ultimately nailing down the signals that suggest customers’ intentions. And just in case you shared my fear that ultimately all of this precision tech could lead to the death of ideas, Isaacson offers hopeif not evidenceto the contrary.

Cadillac is pulling its HQ out of New York

General Motors is moving Cadillac’s headquarters back to Michigan roughly three years after the brand moved to New York City’s trendy SoHo district.

The decision comes less than six months after GM executives ousted Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen, a former Infiniti and Audi executive, in exchange for Steve Carlisle, a GM lifer who most recently led the automaker’s Canadian operations.

In March, Cadillac installed former McDonald’s U.S. marketing chief Deborah Wahl as global chief marketing officer, replacing Uwe Ellinghaus, who was an advocate for the New York HQ. Cadillac’s lead agency is Publicis Groupe’s Rokkan, which has offices in New York and Detroit.
