Watermarks for Water, which launched on the same day as World Water Day (3/22), aims to help raise awareness and funds for the global water crisis by transforming the iconic Getty Images watermark. The Watermarks for Water collection is comprised of more than 300 images, shot by some of the world’s best photographers, that highlight the plight of (the lack of) clean drinking water. Getty also launched a special microsite (www.watermarksforwater.com), and each time an image from that collection is licensed, the iconic Getty watermark is removed and 10% of proceeds go directly to charity: water, an organization that brings clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. Building on the company’s mission that it can move the world through photography, Getty Images’ site now features a beautifully moving and inspirational video, created by FCB Chicago, that educates consumers on the power of an image and the water issues we face today.
When militants seized the Philippine city of Marawi last year, thousands of residents were forced from their homes to avoid the fighting. The government retook the city, but not before many lives were changedincluding those of mothers who gave birth while displaced. For an annual “National Breakfast Day” promotion in which it tries to showcase uplifting stories, McDonald’s Philippines and a journalist visited the evacuees, or “bakwit,” for a video that appears among promotions for shoes, smartphones and Persil ProClean on this week’s Viral Video Chart.

Apple is going head-to-head with Google in education, a market the iPhone maker helped pioneer but has let languish.
For the first time in several years, Apple released hardware specific to education: a new iPad that squares up against Google’s cheap Chromebook laptops, which have become popular in schools. Apple also introduced a new education service called Schoolwork, which will compete with Google’s Classroom software.
The new iPad has a 9.7 inch screen and costs $299 for students and schools, and $329 for other users. It supports the Apple Pencil accessory, a first for a non-Pro iPad model. Apple also says it is releasing new versions of its iWork productivity apps that work with the Pencil stylus. The Pencil will cost $89 for students, $10 below the regular price.
Over the past decade, our media has transformed, and with it, consumer habits. Generations Y and Z are more interested in marketing to each other than paying attention to traditional formats. Experiential activations find success among the younger crowd, but are typically site-specific, limiting reach. For agencies, augmented reality (AR)–with 2016 breakout Pokemon Go–is emerging…
ESPN and CBS aren’t the only big sports media companies with new OTT offerings this year. Turner Sports is joining the fray, launching its own direct-to-consumer live sports service, Bleacher Report Live, in April. The new offering is distinguishing itself from ESPN’s upcoming ESPN+, which will require a monthly subscription, and CBS Sports HQ, which…

Kind, sensitive and beautiful are adjectives not often associated with shelter animals. Many fail to understand they can be incredibly gentle and friendly.
That’s why Possible Moscow have teamed up with Hill’s Pet Nutrition and ‘Adopt a Pet’, to challenge perceptions and find new homes for them.
To do this they have created, ‘Adopt A Pack’, a specially designed Telegram sticker pack and bot, which takes these animals and makes them part of people’s everyday conversations, breaking down prejudices along the way. The Telegram sticker pack consists of images of pets currently waiting for adoption. By sending a sticker with an animal that you like to a Telegram bot, you can get its biography, photos and advice on how to feed it. Whenever the ‘Adopt a Pet’ fund gets a new homeless pet, a new sticker is added to the pack and when the pet is adopted, its sticker disappears from the set.

Let’s start with a couple definitions. Blockchain is a technology that enables an anonymous, decentralized record of transactions. Imagine a public chain of information in which each link is a single transaction, viewable by all but impossible to change once it has been formed. And keep in mind, Blockchain is not Bitcoin. Bitcoin is built…

Remington Outdoor, the 200-year-old maker of rifles, handguns and bullets controlled by Cerberus Capital Management, filed for bankruptcy over the weekend, after the election of a “true friend” to the White House ironically wound up stifling sales.
The chapter 11 filing in Delaware bankruptcy court Sunday came with a revised plan to eliminate $620 million in debt, pay most creditors in full, and hand over most of the company to a group of lenders. Remington, which makes weapons for military, law enforcement, and hunting customers, had already outlined a plan on Feb. 12 to file for bankruptcy and give control to lenders including Franklin Resources Inc. and JPMorgan Asset Management.
The filing came after a weekend of marches across the U.S. seeking tighter laws to fight gun violence. Remington said in court filings that its efforts to finance a turnaround were complicated by parties who were reluctant to lend to a gunmaker. After approaching 30 potential lenders, financial adviser Lazard Freres & Co. found “the vast majority” indicated “they were reluctant.” Eight parties who entered into further discussions later declined, and one outside lender who had agreed to provide a $100 million bankruptcy loan changed its mind, according to the filing.
