In Davos, Trump Basically Tries to Directly Dismiss Time's New Cover Story

Time magazine’s latest coverthe animated version (click on the play button) created for social media is shown abovedepicts an entirely isolated United States, under President Trump’s leadership, along with the headline “America Alone.” (See Carl Vick’s cover essay, titled “Donald Trump Is Turning Davos Into a Globalist Throwdown” for the web, here.)

Today in Davos, Switzerland at the World Economic Forum, President Trump gave a speech and, well, here’s a Financial Times headline to sum it up: “Trump to world leaders at Davos: ‘America First not America alone’.” (A stand-out sentence in the FT report, by Katie Martin and Adam Samson: “In a sign of the heightened tension, the normally polite audience at the World Economic Forum hissed when the president’s tax plan was mentioned as he was being introduced on Friday.”)

Why Mobile Video Ads, Already Surging, Could Get a New Boost Next Month

The picture isn’t always clear when it comes to video advertising on mobile devices.

That’s because there are two different standards when it comes to video: VAST and VPAID. VAST is abundantly available through programmatic exchanges and loads much faster when compared to its counterpart, VPAID, but it’s incapable of measuring key metrics like viewability on mobile or in apps. VPAID has problems, but not that one.

And that’s a big sticking point with marketers, especially because VAST is supposed to be the successor of VPAID. The difference matters all the more because mobile video saw its highest levels of ad spend through the first six month of 2017, with $2.6 billion.

How Super Bowl Arrivals in Minneapolis Will Suddenly Be Whisked Off to Jackson Hole

Nobody really wants to be in an airport. But a clever tourism stunt around next weekend’s Super Bowl in Minneapolis offers an unexpected way to get out. Do-Gooder Bowl

While last year’s game was marked by political statements (witness this crazy spot by It’s a 10 Haircare, among others), at least a few Super Bowl marketers will be using this Super Bowl to tout less controversial philanthropic efforts, E.J. Shultz reports. Hyundai is using an expensive 60-second ad spot in Sunday’s game to plug an organization dedicated to fighting childhood cancer. The automaker and its agency, Innocean, will assemble the commercial with a combination of content captured on game day and pre-shot footage. The spot will air in the fourth quarter.

Why Brands Must Move From Communication With Consumers to Conversation

As marketers, we’re increasingly finding ourselves facing an intriguing conundrum when it comes to creating personalized experiences for our customers. In our efforts to drive hyper-personalization, and appeal to every possible consumer need, we’re now at risk of confusing and, even worse, potentially alienating the very customers we’re trying to woo.
