Persen: Banner Made To Irritate

Online
Persen

Our task was to create a banner delivering a message “Persen helps fighting with stress.” TA was women, 25-40, living an active life and experiencing stress.

We came up with the following idea and solution. What is special about people in stress? It’s their irritability. A person in stress can be irritated by mere nothing. And what can irritate those people in the Internet? Tons of things. Our banners, for example. But if irritation is unavoidable – why not capitalize on it?

So we made an interactive banner that irritates you even more than usual. In this banner we asked women questions about things that irritate them. A lot of questions. A whole lot of annoying questions. Sooner or later a viewer would lose her temper – and in this moment we would propose her a medicine for irritability and stress. And those who stayed totally calm while answering our questions we asked again and again until they gave up. Because even the best stress handlers need preventive measures.

Nos Audiovisuais: Respect for the Man

Media
Nos Audiovisuais

Portugal’s premiere of Tupac’s biopic “All Eyez On Me” was the starting point for the new Social Animals campaign for NOS Audiovisuais.

Tupac is a legend for the older target, yet it is a complete unknown for the younger generations that fill the theaters. That’s why we challenged Rui Unas, one of the greatest portuguese influencers, to tell the story of the Rap God through a music video homage with the sound and the visual of the 90’s.

Once again, the social media agency created, directed and produced the entire campaign internally, including the music production.

Barton F. Graf Proves That Pop Secret Is Better Than All of Your Favorite Things

Another week, another opportunity for the folks at Barton F. Graf to get a little weird.

The agency’s new tagline for Pop Secret brand popcorn is “Better Than Everything,” as in everything you have experienced or could possibly imagine. The full extent of Pop Secret’s awesomeness is limited only by the boundaries of your own mind.

That and some “hot buttery logic.”

So flowers are a definite no. How about sunsets?

Even the greatest thing ever—a kid’s birthday party—has some downsides.

Of course, if we really get down to it, all popcorn does have those kernels that get stuck between your teeth or up on the roof of your mouth. And it’s one of the best things for spoiling a young appetite. Many brands don’t even use real butter!

We’ve asked this before, but since we’re big fans of repetition: how much does Gerry Graf love David Lynch? And when can we get a beer with his favorite casting directors?

Redditors Kind of Hate Working in Advertising

A recent thread in Reddit’s r/advertising subreddit posed the question “If you were to go back to school right now and do everything over again, would you still go into advertising?”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the comments were largely in line with the “Absolutely fucking not” response of one Redditor who bemoans not going into computer science.

“No, after 8 years I hate advertising,” another says, adding that he or she would work to become a video game designer if given the chance.

Another Redditor who graduated with a design degree cites “No job security, no career prospects, shit pay” as reasons for it being “a huge mistake” to pursue a career in advertising, while conceding, “At least the colleagues tend to be good.”

Another mentions “Long hours, massive fear, huge egos and little reward” as reasons for hating that copywriting job.

To be fair, such views didn’t completely dominate the thread.

One Redditor offered the view that it’s normal to feel tired of a given career path after awhile, adding, “Personally I think we are one of the best and most fun industries to work in. We have the chance to change the world and I think that’s the coolest thing ever.” You just rolled your eyes, didn’t you??

Another adds that while advertising is difficult, “there’s something about the challenge of a creative brief that makes me want to win.”

“Working in advertising isn’t the problem,” advises another Redditor, “The problem is getting a useless degree that specializes in it.”

The more positive responses are most easily found by sorting the thread by “Controversial.”

How would you respond to the question?

Erich & Kallman and the Former ‘Most Interesting Man’ Will Help Promote Astral Tequilla

Davos Brands selected Erich & Kallman as agency of record for Astral Tequila, the tequila brand founded by Master Sommelier Richard Betts it acquired a controlling stake in earlier this year.

According to a press release, Erich & Kallman beat out a number of New York and Los Angeles agencies to become Astral Tequila’s first creative agency. The agency will be tasked with handling video, digital, print, social, and OOH components for the brand.

Erich & Kallman, as you may recall, is the independent San Francisco agency founded by W+K, Barton F. Graf and GS&P vet Eric Kallman and former CP+B president Steve Erich in May of 2016. Since its launch the agency has added Chick-fil-A and General Mills to its client roster.

“When you’re entering a crowded category with a new brand, it’s vital that you can cut through the noise with compelling creative. Creative that will get noticed and get people talking,” Astral Brands vice president, marketing Joen Choe said in a statement. “After a lengthy pitch process with some of the best agencies on both coasts, it was actually pretty easy to see that Erich & Kallman’s creative was head and shoulders above the rest.”

“Astral is a fantastic product in a growing category,” added Erich. “We’re thrilled about the opportunity to launch a product created by Master Sommelier Richard Betts, using the talents of Jonathan Goldsmith to promote its introduction.”

Back in June, Astral Tequila released a brief ad featuring Jonathan Goldsmith referencing his old “The Most Interesting Man in the World” character for Dos Equis.
