Old Navy Pushes Activewear to Lure New Shoppers

Old Navy is highlighting its improved activewear collection, in an effort to bring new shoppers into the fold. The retailer is rolling out a new campaign today to establish itself as a credible performance brand while keeping the playful spirit Old Navy is known for.

The move is part of an effort to lure shoppers who have not been swayed by Old Navy’s recent efforts to spruce up its offerings and don’t think of the brand as a fashion destination.

“A lot of people still have the perception that Old Navy doesn’t make the most fashionable clothes because for a while we didn’t,” said CMO Ivan Wicksteed. “If you don’t walk through the front door because you’re looking for fashion, maybe you’ll walk in looking for active.”

The Great Credit Card Swindle : Sex Pistols Credits cards from Virgin

Remember when Sex Pistols launched a perfume and we declared punk dead? Well, Punk is now credit worthy, as you’ll find that Virgin has launched Virgin money credit cards, and decorated the cards with Jamie Reid’s Sex Pistols album art. Never mind the eye-watering 19% interest rate, to quote Johnny Rotten; Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?.

Jayne-Anne Gadhia, chief executive of Virgin Money explains her thoughts on this credit card launch in her blog “Never mind the bankers”.

I can’t think of any other part of our society that needs to be challenged and changed more than the banking sector.
The established ways of doing things have often proved disastrous. The lack of competition has cost customers dear. And a dearth of innovation means that the big banks have much to do to catch up with the needs and requirements of todays world.

We don’t want Anarchy in banking – but we do want change. And we want to get rid of the bollocks in banking and to be simple, open, transparent and fair.

So, I am an antichrist. I am an anarchist. I am a reasonable APR, with easy repayments. I am anarchy in the UK, but terms and conditions may apply. Please ask us about our simple “My way” loan.

San Francisco on Verge of Requiring Warnings on Soda Ads

San Francisco will likely soon require health warnings on soda ads, representing a defeat for beverage marketers that have fought such rules.

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted unanimously for the warning on Tuesday. The Associated Press reported that “it’s believed that San Francisco would be the first place in the country to require such a warning on ads for soda if it receives a second approval from the Board of Supervisors next week and the mayor does not veto it.”

The rules would cover sugary sodas like Coke but not apply to low and no-calorie offerings like Coke Zero, according to the AP, which noted that the rules would also apply to other beverges such as sports and energy drinks that exceed a 25-calorie limit.
