MediaVest Wins Brown-Forman Global Media Account


Liquor giant Brown-Forman has selected MediaVest as its new global media agency after a review, according to people familiar with the situation.

The Publicis Groupe agency will replace incumbent Interpublic-owned UM, which participated in the review. Other agencies that pitched include Publicis Groupe’s ZenithOptimedia and WPP’s Maxus. UM had held the account for more than 10 years.

A Brown-Forman spokesman did not respond to calls and emails seeking comment on deadline. Executives at UM did not immediately respond to messages left seeking comment. MediaVest referred calls to the client.

New Creative Hires at DDB Montreal and SapientNitro’s la comunidad

DDB-Logo-1-300x195DDB Canada and the agency’s Montreal office announced several major hires.

Monique Brosseau joins the shop as VP/managing director; she most recently spent seven years in the EVP/GM role at ZenithOptimedia Canada, and her 20+ year career includes stints in similar positions at Publicis as well as top PR firm Edelman and cosmetics brand L’Oreal.

Etienne Bastien will be VP/creative director for the DDB Canada organization. Prior to joining the organiztion, he spent more than a year in a creative director position at TBWA’s Montreal office as well as three years as a senior creative at BBDO Montreal. In addition to the general CD role, Bastien will serve as co-creative lead on the shop’s Volkswagen account.

The agency’s Montreal office also announced five new staffers: art directors Arnaud Tartier and Arnaud Deneux, who join from Bleublancrouge and Palm+Havas, respectively; copywriters Emmanuel Chevallier from Marcel Paris and Ben Duquette from Bleublancrouge; and group account director Jacques Blanchet, previously with JWT.

This Kid Had an Adorably Specific Wish to Be a UPS Driver, and the Company Delivered

Carson loves trucks and gets way more excited about UPS deliveries than most other 4-year-olds. So the company decided to go ahead and make him part of the team.

Carson befriended Mr. Ernie, his neighborhood’s UPS driver, when he started delivering a special formulation of milk to Carson’s door three times a week. 

As part of the shipping company’s Your Wishes Delivered campaign, Carson wanted to be a UPS driver for the day. So UPS made him one, with his own truck, brown uniform, packages and even signature pad.

Ogilvy & Mather made the two and a half minute spot, and it’s a big old pile of cute wrapped up in brown paper. Carson is simply adorable. When he sees the miniature UPS truck, which is obviously a modified Power Wheels vehicle, he slaps his cheeks with his hands like Macaulay Culkin and runs around in a circle shouting, “Oh my gosh!” Then, he packages up cookies and dog bones to deliver to his neighbors.

But the best part of all, is Carson’s ability to make Mr. Ernie, a 25 year UPS veteran, get all choked up. You might even get choked up too.
