The Ad Agency as Curator

Just because a person is a member of a cultural group doesn't necessarily mean she's exactly like your target audience. You can still expect that person to have some kind of insight into the world of her assumed cultural affiliation — even if she doesn't identify with it. What that insight is worth depends upon the level of her awareness within and outside of the group and her willingness to share info.
