ABC's Jake Tapper has picked up on an interesting trend. Democrats in the South and other moderate to conservative regions are running ads basically claiming that they've told party leaders to go jump in a lake.

Toda vez que faço um post sobre o Foursquare ou qualquer outra ferramenta geosocial, diversos leitores protestam. Ou por considerarem tudo isso sem sentido ou pela falta de privacidade das pessoas.

Ou melhor, pelo desejo de falta de privacidade, afinal, é tudo uma questão de querer, de opt-in, algo que acho que só o Facebook resolve ignorar algumas vezes.

E mesmo participando do Foursquare, Gowalla e afins, você também tem sempre a opção de compartilhar apenas o que deseja. Você não precisa, por exemplo, fazer check-in naquela festa que jurou pra sua namorada que não iria. A ferramenta tem várias características, mas entre elas não está tornar você estúpido. É uma brincadeira com benefícios (ou não), brinca quem quer.

Mas no reino do Big Brother sempre existe um passo além. E se, por exemplo, você pudesse configurar seu smartphone ou notebook para fazer check-in automático no momento em que você entrasse em algum lugar? Isso é possível com o stumble.to.

Mas vai ainda mais além: e se você sequer precisasse de qualquer equipamento desses, e seus check-in fossem realizados através do seu tênis? Você pisou na porta, e seu Foursquare atualiza automaticamente? Também existe.

Foi o que fez o desenvolvedor Casey Halverson. Ele hackeou um sensor Nike+ – desses que antes serviam apenas para registrar suas corridas – fazendo-o integrar com o Foursquare, reconhecer sua localização e atualizar seu perfil sem você nem precisar lembrar de nada.

Em seu blog, Casey explica a traquitana toda por trás, que é simples aparentemente, apesar de ainda rudimentar e apenas criada como teste. De qualquer maneira, a aplicação e possível e existe.

Se você sair com um tênis desse na rua, a única maneira de evitar compartilhar a sua localização seria jogar o chip fora ou andar descalço. Você usaria?
