Behind This Morning’s Fake New York Times

thefakenewyorktimes.jpg

This morning, someone is handing out fake newspapers from July 2009. Headlines read: “Iraq War Ends” and “National Health Insurance Passes.” The paper even includes fake ads. Ha. Some wonky progressives are obviously trying to make a statement. If you’re not in New York, check out the fake Times website, here. Well, that is if you can get on. It seems that everyone is trying to access the site this morning.

Gawker is reporting that volunteers who are handing out the newspaper were collected through the website BecauseWeWantit.org” is somehow linked to the site of The Yes Men, a liberal prank association.
