Airlanes Endorsing unFARE Ads
Posted in: UncategorizedWe all know how hard it is to do business these days but using misleading ads is something that is highly controversial. For one, it is a fact that while everyone is shying away from spending, businesses are investing heavily in advertising materials and mediums to possibly gain exposure and headway once the economy settles down.
But while that is a common trend we see these days, being mislead through faulty advertising is not a good way to go about it. For example, airlines offering cheap rates in their ad should show what exactly they mean by cheap and affordable rates. Some choose to save the fare rates later but other than wasting the time of consumers, you may become irritated once you find out that such rates are practically the same and hence meant to purely get attention.
Mr Bowen said the Trade Practices Amendment (Clarity in Pricing) Bill 2008 will make it clear businesses must “state the total price as a single figure” when that price is quantifiable.
The advertising of cheap airfares was the best known form of misleading component pricing, the minister said.
“It is not appropriate that additional compulsory fees and charges are disclosed in fine print disclaimers, particularly when those additional compulsory charges may be significantly larger than the component price that is highlighted.”
