Campaign aimed at consumers open to the benefits of legalized, recreational marijuana. BMW X2: Ungovernable

Film
BMW

Cape Town-based director Kyle Lewis, who recently signed to Egg Films for commercials representation, has released ‘Ungovernable,’ a new ad for the first-ever BMW X2. OpenCo’s creative team of Kyle Schoeman and Nicola Sprawson invited Kyle to workshop the script with them. The piece is an ode to “those who tear normal up” – something Kyle’s become known for himself. “BMW is a great example of why we’re so excited to represent Kyle for commercials,” says Colin Howard, Egg Films’ managing director. “Kyle is now getting opportunities to show his broader talent, with advertising as his main focus.” Kyle thanked everyone he worked with on BMW, including producer Will Nicholson, DOP Willie Nel, editor Jade Bowyer (PostModern), stylist Nola Williams, art director Gerhard van Zyl and composer Tapiwa Musvosvi. Having made his name as one of South Africa’s most acclaimed music video directors, Kyle transitioned seamlessly into advertising with Egg’s sister company, Arcade Content, where his instinct and flair for African youth culture has been in demand with everyone from Absolut to Nike to Volkswagen over the last three-and-a-half years. Recent advertising accolades include a Gold Loerie and Silver Bookmark and Apex awards. Arcade Content will continue to represent Kyle for brand films and music videos; he’s represented in the UK by Black Dog Films – the music video arm of RSA Films (Ridley Scott & Associates), which also reps the likes of multiple Grammy and MTV VMA winner Jonas Akerlund. Volkswagen: One Accident Is Enough

Print
Volkswagen

The Automatic Post-Collision Braking System is a safety feature that automatically initiates braking after the vehicle suffers a collision, and prevents or minimises subsequent collisions. To communicate this feature, we portrayed three chains of unfortunate accidents with a humorous twist. The message is simple: you might not be able to avoid the first accident, but now you can avoid things from going from bad to (a lot) worse.

One Accident Is Enough. Stop the chain with the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System.

Pedigree: Dogs have dogs

Online
Pedigree

Humans are not the only ones to be influent on social media. Nowadays, more and more dogs have their own Instagram accounts. Some of them are liked and followed like stars. Pedigree and their agency CLM BBDO laid hold of this phenomenon for the good cause with an operation called “Dogs for dogs”. Exceptionally, several of the most influent French Instagram dogs lent their account to other dogs of the same breed, waiting to be adopted. Their followers then liked their photos like they usually do, before realizing they were actually giving likes to an abandoned dog. A dog similar to the one they are used to following, but one that they can adopt, thanks to a link redirecting to agirpourladoption.fr. For the first time, thanks to Instagram, dogs used their notoriety to support other dogs. For 10 years, Pedigree supports adoption via the program Agir Pour l’Adoption. In addition to the food that the brand has been supplying to shelters, the brand communicates in an innovative way to sensitize French people to the cause of adoption.

BBVA: 2:45’’ without breathing

Integrated
Bbva

An ad that took a country’s breath away.

Context: On July 7th, 2017, Sofía Gómez, a Colombian athlete sponsored by BBVA, submerged 84 meters into the sea to establish the new apnea World Record, a rarely known and practiced sport in the country. During her achievement, she held her breath in for 2 minutes 45 seconds.

Idea: In order to turn a record of an unknown sport into a record of an entire country, we used the most important newspaper of the country to publish an ad with a story that took to be read, the same time that Sofía took to immerse. With this action, we challenged Colombians to read it holding their breath in, mark their own record and then post a picture on their social networks adding the hashtag #BBVAconSofia (#BBVAWithSofia). The ad also invited people to visit a site where they could read the text, mark the time they read without breathing and share their record in their social networks.

Citroën: Forward

Film
Citroën

The Agency has been exploring different ways of working, creating and producing and has launched its own Content Lab: a space where the pace is reduced, pressure from daily tasks removed along with the ability to give sufficient time to take a big step back in order to find the right partners, produce, think and put things into question. The driving force being Freedom.

From this was born the Citroën Forward project.

One year ago the Agency presented a wild idea to the Citroën Client and proposed a completely different way of approaching and producing it. The story of a man face to face with nature in which the Agency was free to create it’s own form and tone. The car is shown in a way that has never been seen before and the brand logo appears nowhere in the film. When confronted with the question should we have a classic logo at the end of the film? The answer from Xavier Beauregard was is it possible to have missed the brand?
