Pixel Fox Studios : Agency Profile

DesiCreative
DesiCreative – Indian Advertising Creative Blog and Community (beta 1.4)

Pixel Fox Studios is serious fun! We are an award-winning full-service creative studio based out of Mumbai that creates meaningful creative experiences and crafts each pixel carefully to make the work memorable and unique. We are a team of young creative professionals who essentially started working out of home in 2014 and moved to a double-terrace office in 2015.

We started off focusing on a simple goal – to create great work for clients. Initially being a production house, we are now evolving into a full-service creative studio.

What made you start Pixel Fox Studios?
As the saying goes, if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life! We are very passionate about what we do and are always looking for new ways to make a difference to the advertising world. We started Pixel Fox Studios for our love of challenges and problem solving.

Tell us about your designers/animators. How do you pick hire them?
While hiring, focus on quality; test their skills first because sometimes, résumés are all fart and no s#!T. A first impression is everything; so always remember how they made you feel. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. It always leads to quality being compromised.

How would you define the design style at Pixel Fox Studios?
At Pixel Fox Studios, we are open to experimenting with various styles and techniques. A lot of research goes into the concepts we come up with and we try to take things to a new level each time.

What does Pixel Fox Studios do which sets it apart from other digital agencies?
We work, work, work, work, work, work, work and still find the time to bond as a team. We also spend a lot of time on research and observing every single thing that happens around us. By simply being aware, we gain consumer insights that are honest and relatable. These insights help us make each pixel, perfect. We evolve by connecting, observing, communicating and sharing.

Were there any particular role models for you when you grew up?
Uncle Scrooge, Duck Tales fame!

Who was the most influential personality on your career in Brand Building?
Piyush Pandey

How important is the focus on good design in Pixel Fox Studios?
We read somewhere that, “If you think that good design is expensive, you should look at the cost of bad design”. And that is so true! It is important to focus on good design and this can be achieved through a lot of structured research, brainstorming sessions and trial and error.

Do you function like a traditional advertising agency? Or would you call yourself more of a graphic design/branding/social media agency?
From our interiors to our work dynamics, we are far from the traditional ad agency. In fact, we are a creative studio with wide open spaces, experimental wall art, shared lunches, scrabble, thread art, UNO, pot lucks, counter strike, movies, office parties, charades, Game of Thrones which make for great conversations and a lot of laughter.

What do you feel about the state of design in Brand Building in India?
Design should be simple and relatable. Today in India, we are bombarded with what we would like to call ‘visual chaos’. It’s very rare that you will find a piece of communication that is crisp, clean and clear. And we need a lot more of those!

How do you think that the digital arena will provide communication solutions to the clients?
Consumers are always looking for something to wow them and keep them hooked. With technology advancing every second, there is always a scope for improvement, challenging existing content, breaking stereotypes and pushing limits.

Any other Indian ‘Digital Agencies’ you admire?
We admire the path-breaking work created daily by various digital agencies. They inspire us to think differently and dig deeper.

Can you share a successful case study of one of your campaigns?
Well, we like to create several pet projects in the studio. One such campaign we did recently was for Friendship’s Day which was titled #WorkBuddies. The project had funny puns to honor the relationship between a designer and their tools. The campaign was featured on ScoopWhoop, Vagabomb, Design Taxi, Digital Synopsis, Filter Copy, Freepik etc. It organically reached over 1,000,000 people with over 5000 shares across the globe.

What is your dream project?
To be able to create something which causes disruption in the current advertising space in a positive way.

What advice do you have for aspiring creative professionals? Would you advise them to take on Digital Agency as a career option? Or Advertising and brand building?
We would not restrict anyone with choosing a particular career. It’s what one aspires to become. We would suggest one should observe, work on a lot of college projects, take up internship opportunities and then see what career option works best for them. Most importantly, one should learn how to work under pressure.

What apps do you commonly use on your phones?
8-Ball Mini Pool.

Mac or PC?
PC.

Who would you like to take out for dinner?
Piyush Pandey. Really curious to know his thought process.

What’s on your iPod?
Don’t have one. But we mostly listen to AR Rahman, Kishore Kumar, Infected Mushroom, Coke Studio, Dewarists.

Whats your Twitter Handle?
@pixelfoxs

Tokyo Japanese Tea Association: Japanese Tea Revival Project

Online
Tokyo Japanese Tea Association

With the anticipated increase in tourism to Japan, Japanese people have the chance to demonstrate their world famous culture of hospitality. This spirit of unconditional hospitality (known as Omotenashi), is deeply engrained in Japanese culture and passed on from one generation to the next. Central to this spirit of hospitality is the service of traditional tea in Japanese homes.

However in recent years traditional tea has seen a decline in relevance amongst Japanese consumers. In order to restore relevance to the traditional tea spirit, and revive pride in Omotenashi, the Tokyo Japanese Tea Association and Geometry Global Japan (Geometry) have launched the “Japanese Tea Revival Project”.

Previously, efforts by the tea industry to reverse the decline have focused on the origin of the tea leaves and subsequent quality, but these efforts have been largely unsuccessful. In a bold move, the Japanese Tea Revival Project takes a new approach by uniting the industry across all areas of production to revive the culture of freshly brewed tea.

The campaign kicks off with the launch of an animation featuring freshly-brewed tea served with “Kyusu (??)”, the traditional Japanese teapot. Here, the somewhat negative idiomatic copy “Banji-Kyusu or ????” (meaning “it’s all over” or “nothing else can be done”, which is a play on words linking the two meanings of “Kyusu”) is used to illustrate the threat that ready to drink tea is posing to the service of traditional tea, which is a hallmark of Japanese hospitality.

Masato Mitsudera, executive creative director, Geometry Global Japan, said: “Japanese words such as ‘????Ochanoma or living room’ (literally meaning ‘tea space’) and ‘?????Nichijo-Sahanji or daily happening’ (literally meaning ‘common activities like eating and having tea’), illustrate that tea has been central to life in Japan for centuries.

Enjoying a freshly-brewed tea with family and friends is a precious moment at the risk of fading away. That is exactly why we launched this project to successfully pass down the heartfelt practice of brewing tea as well as being served tea in Japan. The campaign is now live and will continue to revive relevance to traditional tea and its role in Japanese hospitality throughout the country.

Autism Forum Switzerland

For people with autism, facial expressions are as difficult to understand as a foreign language.

People with autism have difficulty properly assessing the visual expressions, gestures and feelings of other people. “Facial expressions” must be painstakingly learned like a complication foreign language. This campaign illustrates this using Chinese kanji characters resembling human faces. Each character has a meaning, such as loyalty, emptiness, empathy, sadness or loyalty. The characters were painted by calligrapher-artist Sylvie Xing Chen using tradition methods on Japan paper.

Erste Bank: AirBNB for dog lovers

Erste Bank: AirBNB for dog lovers

’Adopt me and get a luxury apartment in Budapest for a ridiculous 9 EUR/night price for 3 days!’ says Taco the homeless dog in a fresh and crazy Hungarian campaign starting this week on AirBNB’s Budapest site in conjunction with Erste Bank Hungary.

The owners of three luxury apartments have already offered their properties to be host to the dogs from the Illatos út Dogs Home in Budapest, which is constantly facing a lack of space due to the amount of dogs they recieve.

We’ve been helping people finding homes through our mortgages for years. This time we are happy to support dogs in doing the same by creating a unique campaign for them.

We are expecting dogs from the Illatos út Dog Home to find new owners but we’d also like this idea to raise more awareness for the homeless dogs worldwide said Andrea Szabó, Erste Bank Hungary’s marketing director.

All three apartments are situated in the heart of beautiful Budapest. Normally they cost almost ten times more but now anyone can rent them for only 9 EUR/night by adopting one of the cute dogs who are desperately looking for a home.
