80% of inmates who learn a new skill while in prison are less likely to commit a crime again after they are released. Made in Carcere is a company that works with women in prison, teaching them a skill. The challenge was convincing them to sign up for the program. Pretty cool idea from Tonic International in Dubai.

Not only is there little awareness about breast cancer in Pakistan among the poorest in the country but women aren’t allowed to speak openly about it. It is a cultural taboo for women to be treated for breast related issues. As a result, their silence cost 40,000 people their lives last year. To circumvent this, Tonic International Dubai created the Pink Bra, a smart bra if you would, that encourages women to self-test and can also detect breast cancer early. Really neat idea.

This idea came from the symptoms of the disease: Alzheimer’s causes serious dysfunction of the memory, with patients suffering forgetfulness and repeating utterances or concepts over and over again. To invite people to donate 5/1000ths of their income to A.M.A. we chose a medium that, like Alzheimer’s patients, repeats itself ad infinitum, the animated GIF. In this case the patient keeps asking us to make a donation to the association.

JetBlue's Times Square Billboard Calculates Your Exact Travel Time to a Dream Destination

To push its JetBlue Card—and hopefully drive some impulse trip planning—JetBlue created a digital billboard that tells people standing in Times Square how quickly they can get to nicer climes, right from where they’re standing.

The Android-based billboard, created with OutFront Media, uses the Google Maps API and JetBlue’s active flight schedule to produce driving and flight data in real time. Whenever people see a special hashtag, the first person to tweet it with the JetBlue Twitter handle can score a voucher for a round-trip flight.
