Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation "High Windows" (2015) 1:15 (France)

Directed by Onur Senturk, this film explores Philip Larkin’s poem “High Windows,” as part of the Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation’s “poetry movement,” campaign. This poem, by the way, was written at the height of the Swinging 60’s in London, and comes from the voice of an older bloke who is simultaneously jealous of the younger generations’ lax attitude towards sex, drugs and religion, while also gleeful that he can partake in that feeling, too.

Portraits of Indian Girls

United Stationers Rebrands as Essendant

United Stationers, a 93-year-old office-product company, is rebranding as Essendant, which combines “essentials” and “ascending” to reflect a unified brand.

The rebranding effort officially kicks off Monday, with executives from Essendant ringing the opening bell of NASDAQ, and an integrated campaign called “Beyond Essentials,” created by Gyro Chicago. The campaign includes print, online, website, out-of-home, direct mail and social media. The budget was undisclosed.

“There are two main elements driving the need to rebrand,” said Diane Hund, VP-marketing at Essendant. “First, our core brand name at one time really captured the essence of what we did — a provider of stationers’ materials. We even had an envelope as part of our logo at one time.”

Book review: Futures. Science Fiction, Space Travel, and Postwar Art of the Americas

77k

From the 1940s to the 1970s, visionary artists from across the Americas reimagined themes from science fiction and space travel. They mapped extraterrestrial terrain, created dystopian scenarios amid fears of nuclear annihilation, and ingeniously deployed scientific and technological subjects and motifs continue

Recomposed Classic Movie Posters

The 'National' Days: An Advertising Invention?

Category: Beyond Madison Avenue
Summary: We hear about Teacher’s Appreciation Week, National Running Day, National Hot Dog Day, and even the exciting National Doughnut Day.

In June alone, there’s National Trails Day, National Chocolate Ice Cream, and National Cancer Survivor’s Day.

There’s National Red Rose Day, and National Rosé Day; though it still might be a good day if you mix those up, be mindful of what the day is really asking for.

We make fun of the bigger holidays, like Valentine’s day, and call them “Hallmark Holidays”…
