If Apple Made Milk, and Other Super-Cool Imaginary Product Packaging

Next time you’re at the supermarket scanning the shelves for whichever loaf of bread is on sale, because you don’t really care which brand you buy—because bread is bread is bread—imagine if the top shelf had a loaf slapped with a Fendi logo. Would you buy it?

Israel-based artist Peddy Mergui presents a fascinating fantasy world where luxury brand make various food products in his series Wheat is Wheat is Wheat.

“By infusing the packaging of our most basic commodities with values of prestige and luxury, Wheat is Wheat is Wheat explores the dynamic and often blurred ethical boundaries of design within consumer culture,” says his website. “This exhibition is meant to highlight the challenges a designer faces when tasked with promoting economic interests while remaining true to his or her own moral compass.”

It’s been a while since art school, but I think this project’s statement translates to: “There’s an ass for every seat. If you build it, they will come.”

Take a look below at these ludicrous collisions of commercialism.

Tiffany yogurt: Because being regular isn’t good enough.

Prada flour: We’ll just assume it’s white.

Nike fruit: Just eat it.

Louis Vuitton sausage: Just don’t ask how it’s made.

Gucci pickles: The silliest dill.

Ferrari pasta: As if you even eat carbs.

Dolce & Gabbana tea biscuits: Are we sure these aren’t real?

Chanel baby formula: It’s actually from the teat of Gerard D
epardieu.

HSBC basmati white rice: This bag is actual size.

Bulgari butter: When it melts, it turns into the Pope’s tears.

Apple iMilk: That extra 1% is for the 1%.

Real-Life Pac-Man? See Bud Light's #UpForWhatever Teaser (and a Trailer Load of Other Super Bowl Previews)

Bud Light has released a teaser promising great things for the guy in this year’s #UpForWhatever Super Bowl commercial. Last year’s mostly unsuspecting man-on-the-street wound up at a bachelorette party with Reggie Watts and beating Arnold Schwarzenegger at ping pong. Here’s the new teaser, which will run on TV this weekend and seems to suggest some real-life Pac-Man is coming:

From 15 seconds of chaos to 3 minutes of sincerity: Toyota also released a Super Bowl preview today, setting up its ad’s promised focus on great dads:

Not only do Super Bowl ads get ads of their, but even Pepsi’s Super Bowl Halftime Show this year got something closer to a movie preview than a typical tune-in promo. Here’s Katy Perry at her “Halftime Show testing facility”:

YouTube Plans Super Bowl Halftime Show With Online Stars (and Fake Super Bowl Ads)

YouTube will offer a halftime show during the Super Bowl featuring some of its biggest online stars, part of a broader initiative to promote advertisements on the Google-owned video site.

Harley Morenstein, the ringleader of food stunt group EpicMealTime, will host the program featuring musical performances and stunts, while others will produce fake Super Bowl ads. The show will stream live on YouTube during the game, the year’s most-watched television event, airing Feb. 1 on NBC.

YouTube believes the growing profile of online stars like Freddie Wong, whose main channel has more than 7.4 million subscribers, and Toby Turner will help them vie for attention with Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz, NBC’s halftime performers. More than 60 million people subscribe to the channels of the participating YouTube creators, some of whom YouTube has been promoting on billboards in major U.S. cities.

Seattle attempts to tell us rain is a backdrop to art

Most people don’t want to visit Seattle and see their lovely museums because it rains 345 days out of the year and unless you were born in a similar city like Pittsburgh (like me) than you don’t find grey skies all that inspirational. In fact, most people get super depressed and turn into hermits.

Before After Back to The Future Posters

Mercedes Advertises Its Super Bowl Spot With NFL Push This Weekend

Trying to build excitement early is part of the standard Super Bowl advertiser playbook by now. Last year, Super Bowl advertisers including Oikos, Audi, Toyota, Butterfinger and Squarespace released commercials or web videos hyping their big-game ads well before game day. This year, Lexus has already released its full Super Bowl commercial.

Mercedes wanted its Super Bowl ad to have a relationship to the game, and as such created a campaign patterned around the Super Bowl itself, using the tropes of sports talk, endless predictions and anticipation for the event itself.

“The Super Bowl has tremendous value when it coincides with a significant piece of news we want to talk about,” said Drew Slaven, VP-marketing, Mercedes-Benz.

For Super Bowl Advertisers, Pre-Game Is the Real Game

We don’t even know who’s playing in the Super Bowl yet, but already the first official Super Bowl commercial has been released: Lexus’s Super Bowl ad for its NX SUV.

Early releases of Super Bowl ads always raise questions. Aren’t marketers spoiling the suspense that keeps viewers watching during Super Bowl ad breaks? Aren’t they ruining the fun for consumers? But it’s increasingly clear that the TV advertising game is won by preparations done well before kickoff. And advertisers that don’t have a solid game plan in place today will find themselves on the loser’s bench on Feb. 2.

While most of the press attention gets focused on the ads that air during the game, it’s the pre-game activity that sets stage for this spotlight. The two-week runup to the game contains a massive amount of hype, both for the game itself and for the game’s supporters and sponsors.

Google suspende as vendas do Glass e revê estratégias do wearable

google-glass

“Way Out” transforma a relação com o smartphone em uma história de terror

wayout

Creatives: Understand Music Industry Royalties

Category: Guest Column
Summary: Blogging, social media marketing, and e-commerce websites have made copyrighting a newsworthy topic on the Internet. Recently, the various changes in Facebook’s privacy rules have spurred a hoax-driven campaign alleging to protect posts from being used based on copyright law. Because of the sheer volume of websites, numbering in the 600-millions, and the ease of sharing files, the music industry has been hit hard with revenue losses due to royalty infringements.
