Retrospectiva 2014: As mais emblemáticas selfies do ano

selfies-2014

  1. 3) A selfie no enterro do Eduardo Campos (!)

  1. 4) A Rousselfie

Oh No They Didn't: Questions They Can't Ask You In An Interview

Category: Career Oxygen
Summary: Employers must be very sensible and sensitive in regards to what questions recruiters can and cannot be asking in a job interview. Particularly, questions in regards to a candidate’s personal life or religious choices should not be asked at all. A recruiter’s aim in a job interview is to get as much information out of the candidate as possible, but also not to make them feel uncomfortable, because at the end of the day, they would want them to wish to work for the company! Here are some guidelines in regards to what questions you shouldn’t be asked in a job interview as a candidate.

The Who Gets Remixed to Reach New Generation in Ads

Now, in the run-up to the 50th anniversary of the band’s first album, Mr. Townshend has given his blessing to remixes of 15 great Who songs — including “My Generation,” “Baba O’Riley” and “I’m Free” — to introduce the band to a new generation of fans. Unusually, the remixes have been created with the initial aim of seeking licensing opportunities for commercials, movie trailers and TV. “The idea of remixing the songs came about because Pete mentioned to his publisher, Spirit, that he had the original multitrack tapes for most of the band’s classic songs,” said Kris Roggemann, creative producer at music-production agency Mophonics, which led A&R on the project alongside Spirit. “We didn’t want to just take songs to use as great lyric hooks for ads, but to also re-create great music that people would want to listen to,” said Peter Shane, Spirit’s senior VP-creative. Universal Music is also on board to release a remixes album, possibly early next year to mark the anniversary.

Mr. Townshend loved the outcome. “A lot of work [went] into these, especially because the respect shown by the remixes to the original songs and song shapes. I know that makes remixing harder, and less fun for them, but a lot of fun for me,” he wrote in an email shared with Ad Age.

Time Inc. Locks in Outbrain's Headline Recommendations in $100 Million Deal

Time Inc., the nation’s largest magazine publisher, has struck a deal making Outbrain the exclusive external provider of recommended stories for Time Inc.’s websites, including Time.com and People.com. Until now, Time Inc. had worked with a mix of the companies whose ubiquitous content-recommendation widgets help push traffic around the web. The pact is worth more than $100 million to Time Inc.

As a “content recommendation” or “content discovery” company, Outbrain puts links beneath articles published across a variety of websites, including CNN.com, Slate and ESPN. Media companies and marketers pay Outbrain to place those links on publishers’ sites in order to drive traffic to their content. Outbrain shares this revenue with the publishers where the links appear.

“We selected Outbrain not only because the revenues were higher than others but because its engine drives better recommendations than others,” Andy Blau, senior VP and group GM of ad sales at Time Inc., said of the company’s deal, which it plans to announce Tuesday.

WPP's Mindshare and Possible Partner for Content Offering

As many agencies fly solo in their attempts to offer brands both paid advertising services and content that can travel well in social media, two WPP shops have decided that they may be better off working together. Media agency Mindshare and digital shop Possible are combining their digital creative and high-tech ad buying capabilities for a content offering called Content+.

Staffers from Mindshare Entertainment and Possible’s content arm will sit together in a number of Mindshare offices around the world to bring together digital creative and production talent with targeted, real-time buying, especially around social channels. The move also rebrands Mindshare Entertainment in North America as Content+, Mindshare said.

“When Shane and I met, it was like this complimentary love affair,” said David Lang, president of Mindshare entertainment. “We focus in areas he doesn’t and vice versa. The missing link for us is what Possible does in light-touch, real-time content.”

Whole Foods Rolls Out First National Advertising Campaign

The country’s largest organic and natural foods chain, Whole Foods, is running its first national marketing campaign. The push now appearing on billboards, magazines, on TV and online marks a major departure for a company long focused on regional marketing.

The strategy is being led by Jeannine D’Addario, VP-communications, who came to Whole Foods in August, and its goal is to make the Whole Foods brand stand out among increasing competition in the organic market. The ads carry the tagline “Values Matter” and feature images of livestock and farms bathed in golden light. They were designed by Partners & Spade, which has created campaigns for Warby Parker, Target and AOL.

The push aims to make the $14.2 billion chain’s name synonymous with humanely and sustainably grown food and fair labor practices. The company is already known for its food and high prices, but the organic goods it sells are close to becoming ubiquitous at supermarket chains and corner grocers. Whole Foods hopes that if customers define themselves by what they buy, they will want to shop at its store.
