Kiran Kumar C K is a self motivated Concept artist, illustrator, matt painter and visual designer who from India,kerala. Currently he is working in different kind of Hollywood films. He starts to draw from very young age. He has a bundle of talents and skills both Creatively and Technically. He is a self developed artist, and he has extraordinary ambition to achieve something that he loves to do. And he is so polite, humble and very social minded person too.

Why are you an Illustrator?
Thanks for giving such an interesting question and for a chance to interact trough your sites. . . !!!
I love to draw when I was very young, and my drawings was very quick. I never like to do tiny tiny details in my works,i wanted those all feelings in a single stroke if I can.

Did you attend school for fine art or design?
Yes, I finished diploma in fine arts from KGCE Kannur, Kerala. And I Believe an art school never make an artist. The Passion,dedication, Approach and hardwoks make an artist.

You have a distinct style of illustration. How long did it take you to develop your style?
I wanted to convey idea clearly to client according to their briefe with in minimum amount of time and maximum quality. And also I don’t like to make difficulty in my subject,just use minimum lines and shades to convey idea clearly most quickly to Viewers. when the beginning of my career onwards I try to follow this theory.

What is concept art?
Concept art is a form of illustration comes of imagination due to the help different elements. It makes Films, games, Animation and comics books into a different world and gives a magical kind of entertainment to viewers. An artist should be a Magician and should be a Scientist.

Tell us something about Matt Paintings…
Matt panting is mostly using in VFX and advertising for concept design, and for back ground design.
Matt painting is a great medium that gives ideas most clearly and fastly. Any kind of people can easly understand the subject because of that medium presentation style. Why because we normally using real images to composite ideas. It gives most sophisticated picturisation.

How did you start specialising so much in this space?
Honestly I am a self developed artist. I use to experiment and inspire myself and I do check frequently other awesome artist’s works and Style too.

Were there any particular role models for you when you grew up?
I always eager to watch all other artists in the world. Their style and process.
It makes me like this. . I don’t have any specific person, all of them are different in one way or other.

Who was the most influential personality on your career in Illustrations?
Through out my career I have met some great people. One is Mr. Ajesh KS. He is a strong creative designer and he was my team lead when I was working for ISPG. He gives me a whole idea about handling projects, and how to take clients idea to our work more sufficiently and accurately to convey idea through our works and how to motivate artist and how to work with them. It was a great experience.

Second one is Santhosh Cale. He was my Concept team lead in Prime Focus World. He was a simple and humble person with bundle of talents and skills. He knows how to use artist with their caliber into proper assignment and how to support them to take optimum output with out giving any kind of pressure . He has great visual idea and technical knowledge.
Next is my brother Kishor ck. He is 3d animator. His passion and dedication is wonderful. He is my big support!

What made you decide to become a freelance illustrator? When did you start freelancing? Do you illustrate for advertising?
While doing freelance we do get enough freedom to do some thing extra with out killing our own idea. And we do get enough time to do experiment and do verity of stuff.

Are many advertising agencies getting illustrations made these days? Do you work more with agencies or publishers?
Previously I did. But right now I am working for Prime Focus World India, concentrating their own projects. Soon I will go for freelancing to do wide area of possibilities in this industry. Especially to vfx and advertisement. I did work more with digital agencies.

Was there any time when you wanted to quit Illustrations?
No, Never. . .

Have you considered turning your illustrations into toys? Videos?
I really like to do something different and creative . So in the future I do something very interesting for videos and toys.

Any other Indian Illustrators who you admire?
I don’t have special ones, all of them are different in style and approach.

Do you have any favorite fellow illustrators or resources relating to your fields?
All of them have different style of approach and presentation style, may be we like some ones lines or particular part of their work or way of composition, etc. They are half of my resources.

You have such a wide experience as a top working professional. What advice do you have for aspiring creative professionals? Would you advise them to take on Illustration as a career option? Is it paying well enough?
I just want to tell that, do what you love and love what you feel. It makes you something that you can’t imagine. It gives you everything. . . !!!While doing concept art or any other art work before that thurraly try to understand basic things like forms, light, shades, colour theory,etc. . . And you should be multi talented in your field. It makes you to sit in a good position. Having a positive attitude is a very important aspect in your Career. And behave very politely and try to find out other co-workers problems and weakness both mentally ad physically to give a hand to make them up and explore them depend own their caliber . It makes you a good team player and a good human. And you should believe in you. . . . And try to find out good mentors, they make you to explore your talents and skills. NEVER STOP LEANING. . An artist should be a Magician and should be a Scientist.

Whats your dream project?
I want to work with most passionate artists who has hungry for creative an also technical things. An I love to face most Challenging projects.

Am using a Normal PC.

Who would you like to take out for dinner?
Kids :)

Skippy Returns to TV in Comeback Bid


What would Annette Funicello think of this one: “Skippy Yippee!”

That is the new tagline for Skippy, the 82-year-old peanut butter brand once pitched by Ms. Funicello, and now seeking a comeback under a new owner and ad agency.

Hormel Foods Corp., which acquired the brand early last year from Unilever, studied the brand for months before picking the new tagline and strategy. The line is meant to put a new twist on an old sarcastic saying, “yippy skippy,” which the urban dictionary defines as “anything that you have to do or something that doesn’t sound fun.”
