MSC Crociere opens a new discovery season and launches its new Brochure and Product Book with a viral video titled “Keep On Discovering”.

Overviewing a range of pictures that show the most comfortable spaces within the ship, the video describes all the sensations of a trip lived in teenage years, made of strong emotions and of uncomfortable situations at the same time. It’s just an illusory contrast, because on an MSC ship you can still live strong emotions without sacrificing the comfort of a vacation for “grown-ups”, who keep on looking for new emotions.

The video compares the memories of the first teenage trips, recalled with a smile and a bit of nostalgia, with the the experience (which is very different, but still emotionally involving) of an exclusive cruise. Anyone who’s happened, at least once in a lifetime, to sleep on an improvised bed, to clock up the miles and stay under the sun for hours to see a concert or to save food provisions for camping from an ant attack, will surely empathize with MSC Crociere’s video: and while the words describe moments of an often uncomfortable, but free and exciting youth, the pictures show how it is possible to still enjoy the pleasure of discovery and adventure while indulging in the comfort of an exquisitely Mediterranean cruise.

Final de ‘Game of Thrones’ pode chegar na série antes dos livros (!)

Os leitores de ‘Game of Thrones’ têm se gabado por saber o desenrolar da história antes que ela apareça nas telinhas de quem assiste o seriado na HBO. Não é raro surgirem vídeos como os que mostram a reação dos espectadores ao Red Wedding, comparando com a (atual) aparente apatia de quem leu a saga escrita por George R. R. Martin.

Mas talvez isso não seja verdade para sempre. Walt HIckley, do site FiveThirtyEight, analisou o ritmo da escrita de George Martin e o comparou com a velocidade da produção do seriado da HBO. O resultado é esse curioso gráfico, que demonstra uma possível ultrapassagem da história do seriado em relação à contada nos livros.

O método usado por Hickley é razoavelmente simples: ele criou uma média de ‘palavras escritas por dia’ pelo autor, e comparou com o tempo estimado de estreia de cada uma das temporadas de ‘Game of Thrones’. Considerando que o seriado já tem a 5ª e 6ª temporadas confirmadas, e que uma 7ª temporada está nos planos dos produtores, a previsão é de que a história se desenrole no seriado a cada ano, trazendo uma season finale em março ou abril de 2017.

Ou seja, Martin vai precisar acelerar o seu ritmo de escrita se não quiser ser ultrapassado pelos produtores da série, que inclusive já sabem qual o final da história. Já imaginou a revolta dos leitores se eles souberem mais sobre o final da saga pela série do que pelos livros?

Ou, quem sabe, seja tudo apenas uma grande estratégia de marketing, para ‘obrigar’ leitores a assistirem à série, e os espectadores a lerem os livros.

Should Online Merchants Be Afraid of Amazon's Drones?


Amazon turned heads with its news that it’s thinking about using unmanned aerial drones to get packages delivered to customers in as little as 30 minutes. But some are suggesting that it could be a business-killer for other if it becomes a reality, with the potential to drive already-struggling smaller retailers out of business, something Amazon has been doing for years.

So shouldn’t these specialized online-only merchants be petrified of Amazon’s drones? The quick answer: No, not at all. In fact, it’s further proof that companies must take ownership of their brand in the digital channel and stand out. The more specialized and unique the retailer, the better chance it has of surviving. Digital strategies are the keys to success, specifically through an integrated digital blend of content, community and commerce. Sure, retailers should be mindful of how Amazon’s drones could be disruptive to their business, but they should be more concerned with what sets them apart, and content is the avenue.

See the Winners of the Future Lions, Awards for Student Creativity


Ad agency AKQA announced the winners of its ninth contest to recognize student creativity during the Cannes Lions Festival Wednesday. Among the winners was a way to turn your Apple iPhone into a piece of (RED) merchandise, a way to use Google Translate for sign languages and an ingenious way to enjoy ice cream at the perfect temperature.

This year, 1,760 students from 40 countries participated in the competition. “This year’s Future Lions competition had the most forward-thinking and daring ideas to date,” Rei Inamoto, VP-chief creative officer at AKQA, said in a statement. “We were blown away by the caliber of submissions and the winning teams rose to the challenge by providing concepts that not only inspire marketers, but help brands connect with their consumers in a way that has never been seen before.”

The School of the Year trophy went to the Berghs School of Communication, with the highest number of shortlisted finalists.
