In Epic Wedding Stunt, Guy Proposes And Marries Girl on A Plane

wedding_on_a_plane.jpg

All we can say is thank God there was no turbulence during this flight. Otherwise Alexander’s plan to ask for her hand and marry Marieke mid-flight wouldn’t have ended up and beautiful as it did.

Under the guise of winning a girls-only trip for two, Marieke takes a trip with her friend courtesy of Thomas Cook Travel Belgium. What, you thought this was just an organic stunt? Not a chance. Not with all the planning that had to go into it. Thomas Cook funded it and the airline and family were in on the whole stunt. Even the ring and the dress were picked out for Marieke.

On flight day, as Alexander and Marieke’s relative hid in the back of the plane, Marieke and her friend boarded at the last minute and were seated up front. In the back, Alexander changed into a flight attendants uniform and slowly worked his way up to the font of the plane to ask Marieke to marry him.

Of course she said yes. The plane was then decked out wedding-style, the wedding happened and then all the friends and relatives revealed themselves to Marieke. Damn, if only every travel agency-planned trip were actually like this.

ISP Rankings: Why Google Loves Cablevision and Netflix Prefers Comcast

Google has put broadband companies on notice. If you stream YouTube videos poorly, we will call you out.

YouTube’s parent company has created a tool for people to see how well — and how poorly — internet service providers (ISPs) deliver YouTube video streams. Google’s Video Quality Report ranks ISPs by state, city or zip code and appears designed to help people looking to switch broadband companies.

The report is a strike of sorts against ISPs. Content providers like YouTube and Netflix are battling ISPs’ ability to compel those providers to pay for an ISP to deliver their content at high quality. So far they are losing the fight.

Duracell Reviews Agencies Following Acme Resignation

Procter & Gamble Co. is reviewing its Duracell creative account in North America following the resignation of longtime incumbent Acme Ideas Co, reports AdAge. The resignation comes despite what AdAge describes as “one of the best runs in decades for what long had been a beleaguered brand.” P&G spent approximately $50 million on measured media last year.

Acme will end its thirteen year relationship with the brand (which it began when Duracell was still under Gillette Co. ownership), effective as of the start of P&G’s fiscal year on July 1st. “Acme has chosen to return to its founding principles of being a strategic and creative consultancy for building, repairing and creating brands — as opposed to following the traditional agency model of day-to-day account management,” the company said in a statement.

The review comes amid a run of strong sales for Duracell, which also recently replaced Energizer as the exclusive Alkaline battery at Sam’s Club, despite the long-term decline of the alkaline battery category. While P&G hasn’t commented on which agencies are involved in the pitch or the time frame in selecting a new agency, Saatchi & Saatchi are something of a frontrunner, given their existing relationship as Duracell’s digital agency.  Their recent work includes the “Trust Your Power” campaign that featured a viral Derrick Coleman spot. Acme Idea Co. partner Eva Page said that while Acme was involved in briefing multiple agencies involved in the pitch, Acme was “specifically asked and will honor P&G’s request not to discuss agency relationships with any of the media.”

Google Finds a Grand Metaphor for the Future in a Toy From 1974

Life is like a Rubik’s Cube, says Google.

A new ad pays homage to the classic puzzle game by featuring its Hungarian inventor, Ern? Rubik, and by leveraging the toy as an ambitious metaphor for the importance of cultivating problem-solving skills among the species’s next generation of potential geniuses.

The commercial’s rah-rah voiceover, including use of non-words like “awesomest,” occasionally turn an otherwise smart message into the potentially off-putting sort of smarm that is often a hallmark of contemporary techno-enthusiasm. But it’s hard to argue the substance of the spot. Rubik’s own commentary speaks well for itself, and even the editing style offers a charming nod to the cube’s iconic three-by-three matrices.

It is too bad, though, that the creators couldn’t come up with some more clever ideas for the next great invention. Nobody’s every going to actually build a time machine. And anyone who’s convinced that the world really needs an easier way to make grilled cheese probably isn’t a visionary.

Don't Let Your Brand Get Fat

Category: Up Your Game
Summary: As human beings, many of us struggle with managing our weight and are constantly hearing about how terrible it is to “get fat”. A recent experience with a close family member that is losing a weight battle and is suffering serious health issues because of it got me thinking about how important it is to stay in shape. I hate to admit this, but that train of thought led me to then consider how brands also need to stay fit and not get fat.

Ladbrokes faz o Cristo Redentor “vestir a camisa” do futebol
