Posted in: UncategorizedHow Presidential Advertising Is Like Auto Advertising
Posted in: UncategorizedSeasoned politicos are quick to tell you there's nothing that can possibly compare to running a campaign for Congress, Senate, governor or president. They're wrong. Electing a public official is almost exactly like working on another type of traditional advertising account. One that, unlike political advertising, everyone is clamoring to work on.

Posted in: UncategorizedWe’re Assholes? Sort Of.
Posted in: Uncategorized“THANKS FOR SELLING OUT AND DISALLOWING ANY COMMENTS ON POSTS! ANOTHER GREAT IDEA BITES… THE DUST. YOU GUYS ARE REALLY ASSHOLES.”
We got this bit of love from the tips box a second ago. For the record, comments are allowed on ALL Agency Spy posts. That will never change. That said, we do have a bit in of the asshole in us. Our comments system sucks. Hands down. As much as we spies have begged, Jupiter Media has yet to take our complaints, as well as our suggestions (like upgrading to Movable Type 4.2, which host comments) seriously.
And so, we turn to you. Use the tip box! That works perfectly. Do you have trouble leaving comments? Do comments disappear on you? Are you frustrated with the commenting system? Do comments matter to you? Do they effect how you enjoy this blog? Or, possibly, do you love the comments system?
All comments will be collected and forwarded to the big bois at Jupiter. If us spies can’t get them to handle this commenting problem, then we ask you to help us out. Your voice is louder than ours.

Da Frog Takes Home Pita And Hummus
Posted in: UncategorizedWE HEAR THAT… without a review, StrawberryFrog has taken on a new strange pairing – hummus and pita chips. From two different companies. I’m not making this up. Rumors are that the agency has won Sabra Humus and Stacy’s pita chips. As our tipster pointed out: “What are the odds?” It’s almost laughable. We contacted the agency, but as of yet, have had no response. We’ll keep you updated.

“Hip-Hop star Pharrell joins a cast of celebrities in a new $300 million dollar advertising campaign being launched by technology behemoth, Microsoft. On September 4, Microsoft debuted two spots featuring comedian and spokesman Jerry Seinfeld and company founder Bill Gates, as part of the biggest ad spend in the company’s history. One advertisement features Seinfeld and Gates shoe shopping while engaging in idle chatter and the second features Seinfeld and Gates engaged in conversation at a blue collar family’s dinner table. Despite being on the air for less than two weeks, the company is pulling the ads, in favor of a new campaign featuring Williams, Deepak Chopra and actress Eva Longoria. A Microsoft spokesman said the ad campaign was “completely in accordance” with the company’s plans and denied that a lukewarm response from consumers was to blame for the change. The “second phase” of Microsoft’s ad campaign featuring Pharrell has the tagline: “Windows. Life without walls.”
Now a while back when this work launched, I mentioned that there was a huge disconnect. I guess someone took a look at the stats and figured that it was time to launch the next phase of advertising. I only hope that they add a little more product focus to the messaging (ex. Mojave OS creative)
Football and Fox’s Dramas Dominate This Week

MINNEAPOLIS (AdAge.com) — It's time for kickoff! Not just for football, but also for a more promising prime-time lineup, as networks shake off the strike-struck past. While the industry waits to see which new programs will be a hit with viewers, this week's top 10 had five football telecasts, including games, post- or pre-games on the list, led by ESPN's over-the-top 41-37 shoot-'em-up between the Cowboys and the Eagles.
