Posted in: UncategorizedCHICAGO (AdAge.com) — Now here's a novel brief: A trade group has hired advertising and media agencies to make the point that its products are less durable than consumers think. The International Sleep Products Association, which represents mattress makers, has tapped Publicis Groupe's Leo Burnett and Starcom as its creative and media agencies of record in a bid to get consumers to buy new mattresses more often.

Posted in: UncategorizedDash GPS Dramamama
Posted in: UncategorizedSpywriter reported last week that Dash GPS fired the small San Francisco agency Buder Engel, at which point one of its partners unhinged him/herself from the shop.
Today we hear that Grey SF won a small project for Dash, but did so poorly on it that the agency won’t be working for the GPS start-up…ever…again. DAMN!
So following that, Dash fired their head of marketing dude and is apparently now looking for a new VP of marketing — someone who won’t make similar missteps in finding ad shops.

We Can Rebuild…(Dun doo daaa)….We Have the Technology
Posted in: UncategorizedThis spot for prosthesis maker Smith and Nephew has sweet written all over it. It immediately reminded us of The Six Million Dollar Man, and makes us wonder if we should purposefully take a sledge hammer to our crappy knees. No. No that’s not a good idea. Check out the creds, after the jump.

Posted in: UncategorizedWal-Mart Agrees That Obama Eats Babies?
Posted in: UncategorizedWal-Mart, like many a big brand, uses third party advertising systems such as LinkShare to make placements on smaller media entities like blogs. It seems that kind of hands off a approach is biting them in the ass. The company’s banner ad is currently riding high on a a white supremacist’s blog. I refuse to link to it. If you want to see it, go to the source of this major media snafu here.
And this is where advertising agencies can now make a big play. The new pitch to brands: let us handle all your buying chores or end up like Wal-Mart – paying for a terrified white supremacist to spread his message of filth. Makes me want to puke all over my desk.
