Denny’s jumps into the presidential race

Dennysvote
You have to admire Denny’s for flinging every marketing idea at the wall, like so many half-eaten Moons Over My Hammy, until something sticks. For the teens, there’s a campaign to recast the eatery as a hip and rockin’ late-night club. As if that premise didn’t stretch reality to the breaking point, the chain has now kicked off “America Votes for Real,” a contest which, according to Brandweek, asks “John McCain and Barack Obama look-alikes … to submit a video of themselves advocating ‘real breakfast.’ ” It’s original, I’ll give them that. The winners get a free meal every month at Denny’s until the next presidential election in 2012. If nominated, I will not accept; if drafted, I will not run—I’m dreading what Denny’s will elect to serve.
