Women to Watch: Erin Hunter, Facebook
Posted in: UncategorizedErin Hunter spends the week doing business with global marketers like Procter & Gamble, Unilever and Nestlé, but many of her weekends are devoted to racing motorcycles with her fiancé. It’s not a casual hobby: Her top speed is 209 mph, and she’s been featured in the Guinness World Records twice.
Ms. Hunter joined Facebook a year ago after 13 years at ComScore, where she ran sales and client services. The decision to leave wasn’t easy, but she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get back to her packaged-goods roots (she began her career at P&G). “I wanted to be part of something that was really transforming the way the world communicates,” she said.
Ms. Hunter’s role is a critical one: She oversees the company’s relationships with CPG marketers, which punch below their weight with digital-ad outlays. (CPGs represented 7% of digital spending in 2012, per the Interactive Advertising Bureau.) A part of Ms. Hunter’s job is developing products that will be useful to CPGs, such as ads that can be targeted based on users’ offline shopping history.
