?What made you start Wex Inc?
When my best friend Adarsh and I started looking for an agency, who will give us good concepts for our dream ventures Roads and Collegify, we were not getting what we wanted. While most of them concentrated on basic designs we were looking for good conceptual works. We finally decided that the best way to meet our demands will be to get the things done by ourselves. This is how Wex was born in 2011.

?Tell us about your designers/animators. Did they go into fine art or design schools? How do you pick them up?
Yes, they are from the school of life. We do not hire people based on their portfolios and to know exactly how we pick them please apply. ??How would you define the design style at Wex Inc?
Here at Wex, we have a team coming from different backgrounds having plenty of stories to tell that gets reflected in our design. We never restrict ourselves to any particular school of design but try and explore as much as possible for the respective brand. ??What does Wex Inc. do which sets it apart?
We do not do different jobs but do ordinary jobs differently.

?Were there any particular role models for you when you grew up?
Steve Jobs had changed my life forever. While on the other hand David Ogilvy was someone who had been significantly important in all these years.

?Who was the most influential personality on your career in Brand Building??
As far as brand building is concerned, none other than Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi had been the most influential personality.

?How important is the focus on good design in Wex Inc.?
We do not believe in good design. What we mean is if it is effective, it is good. At Wex, we focus on effective visual communication.

?Do you function like a traditional advertising agency? Or would you call yourself more of a graphic design/branding agency?
We are more inclined towards providing creative solutions and hence we more of a graphic design/branding agency.

??What do you feel about the state of design in Brand Building in India??
Honestly, we do not feel good about it. And there lies the opportunity. A big one.

Ogilvy & Mather.

What advice do you have for aspiring creative professionals? Would you advise them to take on graphic design as a career option? Or Advertising and brand building??
If graphic design is fresh boiled rice, then the brand building is kind of fried rice. Advertising is a sort of Biriyani. But you know rice is common so without graphic designing one cannot go for brand building and advertising. If you are looking for brand building and advertising enjoy your rice in a better way.

Facebook posts for CUREat: CUREat is a clinical service that caters into clinical nutrition, advanced diabetics, food therapy and optimum wellness. The idea for the brand was to create awareness about some vital diseases in the simplest way. The tagline of the posts was given ‘somoy thakte sotorko hon’, which means take caution when there is still time. Sugar (Diabetes), Arthritis, Lung Cancer, Piles and Gout pain – we selected these five and keeping the visual simple wrote the names of them putting emphasis on the syllables, so that the pain reflects.

Direct Mailer – Nababorsho card for DNV: DNV Food Products is primarily a spices company now catering into a varied range of food products. On the occasion of Bengali New Year 1421 we designed this card following a popular Bengali metaphor “Je raandhe, se chulo bandhe”. This means one who can cook has also the expertise of doing every job i.e. she is multi tasking woman. Drawing simile between ‘mother’ and ‘DNV’, the benefits of spices were mentioned and the copy is ‘choddosho ekushe, rannata hok koshe’. This means in 1421 let the cooking be more healthy and spicy.

Campaign for Rapid Footfalls: Rapid Footfalls (RFF) is a consultancy firm that helps you to gain footfalls against every odd. As the approach is beating the odds, the best way to define them was to approach what is impossible. The copy says ‘Growbheer shomoshyar birol samadhan’. This means we find solutions to how to increase footfalls.

Digital campaign for Real Good Solutions: Books are what milk is to a breast fed baby. An initiative to make people realize the significance of books and encourage them to read more made the campaign designed for Real Good Solutions, a business consultancy firm. The emphasis of this campaign was to get back to the roots that gave us the true knowledge of life. The books used here ‘Adorsho Lipi’, ‘Barno porichoy’ and ‘Sohoj Path’ are the pillars of childhood of every Bengali.

Emailer and Facebook post for Real Good Solutions: In spite of having public toilets all over the cities many Indians still now shamelessly choose the walls to make a mark of manhood. This obnoxious habit of men seems to be never changing. In Bengali urinating is called ‘mota’ and ‘mat’ means opinion. The pun ‘motadhikar’ which means both right to urinate and right to express your opinion i.e. voting was used. The copy says ‘Apnar motadhikar pesh korun sothik sthane’. This means express rights at the right place. This was used as e mailer and Facebook post issued on public interest at the time of polls.
