The near-perfect world of old fast-food ads

Given the recent surges in obesity, ads like this KFC classic from 1980 are strangely quaint. Which makes sense, as those were more innocent times. Pac-Man and CNN were new, I hadn’t been born yet, and Richard Pryor was still alive and extending his act another few years by setting himself on fire during an attempt to freebase cocaine. How were we to know that years of eating what may or may not have been chicken fried in lakes of grease would turn those apple-cheeked kids into guys like this 28 years down the line?
