Perú Te Quiero: Don't join us yet

Peru was the country with the most deaths per capita (summing up a total of 200.000), with the worst response to the pandemic.

Under these circumstances, by using deep fake technology “Perú Te Quiero” (Peru, I Love You), a citizens’ movement created to fight against the pandemic, brought to life three local celebrities who passed away long ago, to convey the message: “don’t join us yet -there will be time for that”.
These were: Miguel Grau, Grand Admiral and national hero, declared “Peruvian of the Millennium”. With no film records of him, his deep fake was based on his most famous photograph.

Second, Chabuca Granda, the most universal of all Peruvian female singer-songwriters.
To bring her back to life, the deep fake was based on an interview from the 70’s.

And third, Daniel Peredo, the sports voice of a country that was returning to a soccer World Cup after 36 years, but whose premature demise prevented him from narrating it.

All three came back to ask all Peruvians NOT to join them.
