In the state of Ceará, every year, thousands of women are victims of domestic violence. Number that don’t stop to increase in latest years.

The Maria da Penha Patrol is a project developed by Juazeiro do Norte City Hall which consists in a service that provides more safety and integrity to the women in the city. It will integrate about 20 female agents from the Civil Guard that will work to prevent and combat new aggression cases.

Maria da Penha Maia Fernandes is a Brazilian pharmacist who became famous for had fought for her abuser to be convicted. She has three daughters and is now the leader of adult women victims of domestic violence.
