Children’s Privacy Act Changes Won’t Just Affect Kids’ Sites

Don’t ignore the changes taking effect today to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act just because you think your website or app isn’t for kids, attorney Brian Heidelberger says in this video.
COPPA prohibits the online collection of personally identifying information from children under 13 without their parents’ consent, and there are significant penalties for violators. The changes, among other things, extend the act to include geolocation data, video and screen names when they effectively function as contact information.
