C4 faces merger into ‘wider entity’ as other options recede

LONDON – The Government is expected to reject Channel 4’s appeal for state funding and recommend it be merged into a ‘wider entity’, while the broadcaster’s bid to tie up with BBC Worldwide is also failing.
