Beijing Olympic Ceremonies a Fitting End

2008 Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremonies

It is safe to say that hats should be taken off for the 2008 Olympic hosts as they have indeed taken this prestigious sporting event to another level. With a gathering of top athletes from all parts of the globe, a fitting farewell was all that was missing to which happened at the closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The picture of defeat and triumphs were there. A lot of new names, controversies and positive outlook. Among the names now known all over the world included USA’s Michael Phelps and Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, both scoring breaking records that boosted their popularity and niche at the games.

Nations exited and so have the endorsers. But do not expect the advertising gimmicks to stop here. Now that new heroes have been discovered, endorsers are bound to be waiting for them once they get back home.

The Beijing Olympics ended Sunday, attracting nearly all of China’s 1.3 billion people to their televisions, making it “likely to be the most widely watched Games in Olympic history,” according to International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge.

“We had more broadcast coverage to more people, in more places than ever,” Rogge said in his closing press conference on Sunday morning in the Chinese capital.
