XFINITY
Titled A Holiday Reunion, the film has a running time of a bit more than four minutes. It shows E.T. returning to Earth and reconnecting with Elliott, who now has a wife and two children who bear a striking resemblance to a young Thomas and Drew Barrymore, who played Elliott’s sister, Gertie. Along with nodding to signature elements from the original, the film briefly plugs Xfinity. (“It’s called the Internet,” Elliott’s son explains to E.T. “A lot’s changed since you were here,” his father notes.)

Quebec Government
Raising awareness is one thing, but generating true understanding and acceptance is a whole other matter. That’s why the government of Quebec has created a message that aims to fight transphobia. In the documentary video we discover a Quebec family. Mila has always felt like a girl inside, so her parents surprise her with a very special birthday gift. Apart from showing Mila’s own personal experience, the anti-transphobia campaign conveys a strong message about acceptance and suggests paths that families of transgender people can take. A timely campaign on a topic often seen in the news, the ultimate aim is to give Quebecers a more accurate notion of what life is truly like for transgender people and their families. This recent video on transphobia is part of a second phase in a major campaign against violence of all kinds.

Global Climate Strike
In 2019, people all over the world took to the streets to demand climate justice. However, Climate Change denial was also on the rise, represented by the most powerful leader in the world: Donald Trump. Furious Fur
On the heels of Black Friday, it’s no surprise to see a blowout savings event for a faux fur company pop up on Toronto’s fashionable Queen Street West. The surprise however comes upon closer inspection. Furious Fur’s ‘Wild Savings Event’ drew shoppers to the store where they discovered clever twists on familiar discount slogans, revealing that this sales event wasn’t about saving money, but rather, the millions of animals killed every year in the fur trade.

Savanna Cider
If your mother tongue isn’t English, you’ll have discovered that colonialism is alive and well and living in our phones, and it’s killing our indigenous languages. How is it that Autocorrect has no problem recognising a sentence like “The bourgeoisie acquiesced in bequeathing their paraphernalia to the fascists”, but try typing in “Abrazos para ti” and before you can prevent it, Autocorrect has turned it into “Abrasive parade today.” This is a particularly acute problem in South Africa, where our Constitution recognises eleven official languages and our phones only recognise one.
Savanna Cider is a proudly South African cider that’s much loved for its unapologetic crisp witty commentary on the ironies of South African life. They declared “We’re tired of ducking Autocorrect forcing South Africans to speak English”, and set out to liberate people’s phones through a simple hack. Simply go to the Savanna website, download a file in the language of your choice, save it to your Contacts, and vóila. A contact file takes up little space on your phone and can contain an unlimited number of words. Because Autocorrect recognises words saved to your Contacts and doesn’t correct them, saving a Contact file with the 500 most used words in a language automatically “teaches” your phone that language. No more Autocorrect snafus. No more being forced to use someone else’s mother tongue.
“Shosholoza” is an Nguni song that was sung by the mixed tribes of miners mining gold in South Africa.. It was sung by all-male African workers that were working in the South African mines in a call and response style. The song is so popular in South African culture that it is often referred to as South Africa’s second national anthem. We re-wrote it to according to autocorrect.

Software start-ups have a phrase for what Amazon is doing to them: ‘strip-mining’ them of their innovations.
Two boys build a mysterious contraption out of bicycle parts, a rubber chicken, and a whole lot of duct tape. They run around the neighborhood to find more parts and head home to complete what is looking like a DIY X-wing. When another friend comes into the picture, we find out what they’ve actually built – a homemade 4D experience. With the Star Wars trailer on TV, the boys tinker with their masterpiece so water splashes, confetti explode, and phones vibrate. Catching their breath after the rollercoaster of a show, the two boys hand-sign to their friend, “Did you like it?” and we discover that their friend is deaf. Out of creativity, determination and love, the two more than made up for what their friend can’t hear, making her experience of Star Wars all the more wonderful.
