Posted in: UncategorizedWatch: Gayle King and Nora O'Donnell Respond to Charlie Rose Allegations on 'CBS This Morning'
Posted in: UncategorizedAll eyes were on this morning’s “CBS This Morning” in the wake of a Monday Washington Post story about sexual misconduct allegations against Charlie Rose.
“We’re going to begin with news affecting all of us at this broadcast and this network,” Norah O’Donnell said. “CBS News has suspended our co-host Charlie Rose over allegations of sexual misconduct.” The show’s third co-host Gayle King continued, “The Washington Post, as you have heard, published claims from eight women who all worked, or wanted to work, for his PBS program. And they described Rose making unwanted sexual advances.” King then handed off to CBS News correspondent Bianna Golodryga, who detailed the allegations and their aftermath.
Why 280 Characters Won't Save Twitter
Posted in: UncategorizedTwitter has received a spate of bad press lately. From President Trump’s “propaganda” to the suspension of Rose McGowan’s account (the actress revealed she was sexually harassed by Harvey Weinstein), some might feel that the once-popular micro-blogging site is on the way out.
And the numbers justify that assumption. Millennials make up the largest generation in the United States, yet Twitter is struggling in positioning itself as an option for them. A picture says 1,000 words, and this generation prefers selfies to short remarks. According to a recent study from Pew Research Center, almost 60% of Instagram users are between the ages of 18 and 29, compared to 36% of Twitter’s users. While more visual social networks like Facebook and Instagram make sharing photos and videos simple, crafting a witty caption in just 140 characters is considered too difficult by too many. Ironically, Twitter once owned Vine, one of the pioneers and early leaders in short-form video, but managed to drive it to the ground, creating a rift with major social influencers in the process.
In a recent bid to attract users back to the platform and alleviate the editing process associated with tweeting, Twitter announced in September that its character limit would expand from 140 to 280. But how successful does Twitter expect this change — which went into effect on Nov. 7 — to be? Company co-founder Jack Dorsey has called the original decision to limit characters to 140, “arbitrary,” and while 280 characters may make composing short-form content easier, isn’t it just as arbitrary? In a short exchange I had with Or Arbel, founder of the famous app “Yo,” he jokingly said Yo would also double its character limit from 0 to 0, to address public demand.

McDonald’s
McDonald’s UK 2017 Christmas campaign shows a little girl becoming bizarrely attached to a carrot stick. “Are you gonna eat that?” her father asks as they wrap up their McDonald’s Christmas Eve meal. She shakes her head, totally focused on the fat orange stick in her fist. “It’s for the reindeer” she says, and will repeat, throughout the spot. “Carrot Stick” the ad that leads the work, follows the pair home as she clutches her reindeer snack with the vigilance of a bodyguard charged with protecting the Crown Jewels. What sells the spot is the girl herself, whose dedication brings to mind how fervently we saved teeth to stick under the pillow, or refused to eat the cookies meant for Saint Nick. Of course, things go temporarily pear-shaped when her older brother makes a startling revelation—no, not that Santa isn’t real, but that there’s more than one reindeer.

Jana
Jana is positioned as ‘Water as pure as love’ and it based all its communication around love. This year’s Jana edition is strongly connected with the most famous love story in Croatia – the one about two storks Malena and Klepetan. Klepetan flies to Africa every year and the huge problem is that more than 2,000,000 migratory birds are killed over Lebanon every year. Jana started a strong PR campaign by addressing the President of Lebanon with the aim to change the law and stop bird-killing so this love story can continue for many years to come.
