'SNL' Has Some Awesome Ideas for E! Shows, Including 'Powerful Sluts of Miami'

T

The weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” served up some truly awesome ideas for new E! shows, as shown in this spoof ad hyping the network’s supposed fall premieres. “The world is a complete bummer right now,” a chipper announcer declares, “and here at E!, we know that sometimes you just have to be like ‘Buhhhhh.’ So turn your brain off with our new line-up of fall programming!”

Among the faux offerings: “Kendall’s Model House,” in which Kendall Jenner (played by the weekend’s guest host, Gal Gadot) and supermodel sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid “complain around a huge bowl of fruit!” And “Where’s Kanye?”: “You know the moments on the ‘Kardashians’ when Kanye clearly doesn’t want to be on camera? Now there’s a show that’s just that!” And our favorite: “Powerful Sluts of Miami”: “They’re bosses, hoes and twins!”

Harvey Weinstein got fired

Hollywood super-producer Harvey Weinstein has been fired from the company he co-founded, The Weinstein Co., following a report he paid off women who accused him of sexual harassment, The New York Times reports. Mr. Weinstein and his brother own 42 percent of the company. Much of Hollywood has been silent about Weinstein, who has worked on hits from “Pulp Fiction” to “The King’s Speech,” and who is also a longtime Democratic donor and fundraiser. Saturday Night Live for some reason abstained from mocking him during its show this weekend, an omission that got attention. The New York Times says Saturday Night Live wrote jokes about Weinstein but didn’t use them.

Why are you a Graphic Designer(an Illustrator)?
Because I enjoy drawing!

Did you attend school for fine art or design?
I attended school for Applied Art & Type Design. I taught myself how to illustrate after school.

You have a distinct style of Design (Illustration). How long did it take you to develop your style?
My illustrations always had a style right from the beginning – I always drew what felt comfortable. Eventually, I kept developing the style.

Were there any particular role models for you when you grew up?
My role models kept changing, but I was always inspired by people who had an undying spirit to keep moving forward.

Who was the most influential personality on your career in graphic design(illustration)?
My college Type Design professor – Mrs.Manasi Keni, she always pushed me to the edge of my abilities.

When did you start freelancing?
During my final year in college, 2014.

Was there any time when you wanted to quit graphic design(illustration)?
Not a single day! Of course I had times when there were creative blocks, but I never really wanted to stop drawing.

Are many advertising agencies hiring graphic designers? Do you work more with agencies or publishers or direct clients?
I work with all of the above. When a project is interesting & the client/publisher/agency is fun to work with its a win-win!

Do you have clients who give you steady work or do you advertise for new clients often?
Yes, many agencies & clients come back for work. Though, I’m always a bit more keen to work with new people so I can explore newer opportunities.

How do you market yourself?
I upload a drawing a day on my social media feed, the project is called #pranitasdrawingaday – this enables me to constantly upload my work on the internet.
Other than that, I update my portfolio website from time to time.

Any other Indian graphic designers (artists) who you admire?
The list is long but Alicia Souza is on top of it!

What advice do you have for aspiring creative professionals? Would you advise them to take on graphic design as a career option?
Design or any form of commercial art requires more than passion – if you’re willing to be discplined and hard working – the design career is perfect for you!

Do you think Clients are opening up to keeping aside a decent respectable budget for design work? Do you think clients are understanding that they need to invest in Design as a communication tool and also to cut the clutter, and that good design comes at a price?
We are definitely developing – I have worked with a bunch of clients who fully understand why my design fee is what it is, they are willing to invest and are open to suggestions. Though, India is still developing and has a long way to go!

Mac or PC?
Windows PC! Love upgrading my system from time to time.

Who would you like to take out for dinner?
My boyfriend – we never run out of conversations.

What’s on your iPod?
The good life project

Latet ‘Skip A Meal’ by BBR Saatchi and Saatchi

It’s September and the High Jewish Holiday season is here. Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkoth will all be taking place in the space of just two weeks. And for those of you who have never been to Israel during the high holidays, you should know they are the ultimate ‘get-together-time’ and the ultimate cause for uniting around a table filled with goodies.

But unfortunately many Israeli families do not have the means to celebrate. They simply can’t afford the food and are forced to skip a meal. That was the exact message Latet – an Israeli organization that distributes food packages to the needy – wanted to communicate to the public. So it decided to capitalize on a unifying behavior that characterizes all internet users: ad skipping.

People who chose to skip our mouthwatering decoy pre-roll ads, were served up with the following message: “You skipped a meal out of choice but thousands of people in Israel skip it because they have no choice. Make someone’s holiday. Donate a meal”

When deciding about a replacement part, there are many options, there are the knockoffs, the “certified” replicas, and the cheapest ones, but it is actually this what causes bigger damages, with higher costs and even affecting other parts because of this wrong decision.

This is why we decided to show how bad decisions can end with what was going so well.
