CBS Is Prepping an Over-the-Top Streaming Sports Service

Just days after its ad sales unit announced it had landed a former Facebook exec to oversee its digital inventory, CBS Corp. on Monday made it known that its ambitions would continue to take it further beyond the realm of traditional TV with a teaser about plans to develop a new streaming sports service.

Speaking to investors during the company’s second-quarter earnings call, CBS chairman and CEO Les Moonves revealed that a 24/7 live-streaming outlet devoted to sports was in the works. While the project is very much still in the larval stage of development, the as-yet unnamed offering is expected to be modeled on the extant streaming news service, CBSN.

“CBS is a big player in the sports world,” Moonves said, citing the network’s rights deals with the NFL, the PGA and the NCAA Div. I Men’s Basketball Tournament, which it cohosts alongside longtime partner Turner Sports. “We are going to look to differentiate ourselves from the ESPNs and the Fox Sports and, well, we think we have a great opportunity for success.”

Sleep Number "IT bed: Alexei" (2017) :30 (USA)

Spitting in the face of the one-size-fits-all promise of a bed-in-a-box, Sleep Number goes out of its way to supply you all kinds of humorous reasons why you need a bed that changes with you. Weight loss and injury being the biggest ones. Speaking of changing, this is also a completely different demographic they are after compared to the Talk Radio days of yore. Guess they can’t rely on Sean Hannity or whoever any more. The guy wearing the cat ears at the end feels like it’s trying a bit too hard, though.

Sleep Number" IT bed: Paige" (2017) :36 (USA)

Sleep Number
Apparently you need a sleep number because you fall down the stairs, are a drunk, a slob, an overeating pig, and have too many cats. If you squint you can see some actual reasons why you need a bed that changes with you (llike injury, going from single to sharing the bed, etc) but it’s trying a bit too hard to appeal to generation Instagram, and unlike the other spot in this campaign, it’s not as clever.

Fentanyl Kills "Mask" (2017) :30 (USA)

Fentanyl is used to cut heroin cocaine and Xanax, is lethal. It is so strong, drug traffickers who use it to cut their pure drugs wear masks so they don’t inhale it. It is fifty times more deadly than the aforementioned drugs. What happens to the unsuspecting partiers out there who end up with drugs cut with Fentanyl? They get to wear a mask, too. 46% more people in New York have died from overdoses thanks to Fentanyl. Pretty effective ad.
However, between the ringing-ear sounds and the VO that sounds like its coming from a phone, the sound design is atrocious.

EYRI mattress partners with real divorce lawyer

Boy the kids today do not want to go into a brick and mortar shop at all. Not. At. All. If it can be delivered, it can be delivered. Razors. Contacts. Anything amazon carries. And for every company that comes along promising to cut out the middleman and save you on money and time, there are ten other companies who come along promising the same thing (and hoping to get bought out by a legacy company the way Unilever bought Dollar Shave Club.)
