BBH New York Celebrates ‘Days of Play’ for Sony PlayStation

BBH New York launched a new campaign for Sony PlayStation, the brand’s promotion featuring discounted games and systems, running from June 9-17.

Set to the Steve McCarthy-penned “It’s A Sunshine Day” song from The Brady Bunch, the spot opens an idyllic suburban neighborhood on a perfect summer day. Except the pool is empty, there’s no one on the tennis courts, even the ice cream truck is abandoned. You probably know where this is headed.

A man walks into one of the houses to find seemingly the whole neighborhood gathered around watching two opponents square off in MLB: The Show 17, one of the games featured in the promotion, ending by highlighting that the limited-edition gold PS4 shown is $249.99 as part of the offering.

The 30-second spot made its debut yesterday and comes on the heels of the brand selecting AKQA D.C. as its new digital agency, following a review. It’s unclear if the assignment will impact the scope of BBH’s relationship relationship with PlayStation.

Why This Agency Just Demoted All Its Employees and Made Them Interns

There’s going to be a whole lot of coffee-getting going on at Minneapolis agency Solve this summer. That is, if they can figure out who to give the coffee to. Solve, which always gets creative with its internship programs, has decided not to enlist undergrads this year. Instead, it’s mock-demoting everyone on staff to intern…

Sorrell's $30 M Pay Cut Calms Investors But One-Fifth Still Revolt

At today’s annual meeting, more than 20% of WPP shareholders were opposed to CEO Martin Sorrell’s $62.2 million pay package, even though it had been cut from $91.1 million the previous year. They were much angrier at him five years ago, when 60% of shareholders were against Sorrell’s perennially high pay at the 2012 meeting.

This year, the $30 million pay cut did have an impact. A total of 21.3% of shareholders either voted against Sorrell’s pay or abstained this year, compared to 33% last year. That’s the lowest level of protest against Sorrell’s pay in more than five years. After the 2012 shareholders’ revolt, 26% of shareholders voted against or abstained on the pay package issue, followed by 30% in 2014 and 22% in 2015. ,.

Richard Greening, speaking on behalf of the Local Authority Pension Fund Forum, which owns more than 1% of WPP shares, fueled the annual shareholders’ revolt by describing Sorrell’s pay as “excessive” and asked whether it was about retention or succession planning.

Watch the Newest Ads on TV From Oreo, Gatorade, GMC and More

Every weekday, we bring you the Ad Age/iSpot Hot Spots, new and trending TV commercials tracked by iSpot.tv, the real-time TV ad measurement company with attention and conversion analytics from 10 million smart TVs. The New Releases here ran on TV for the first time yesterday. The Most Engaging ads are ranked by digital activity (including online views and social shares) over the past week.

Among the new releases, an Oreo spot deploys a hypnoptic graphic motif to hype Oreo Thins to the soundtrack of, yes, Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize.” A GMC ad asks “How do you wanna live?” — and then answers the question by suggesting that you wanna live “like a pro,” in the spirit of GMC (tagline: “We are professional grade”). And an announcer for Gatorade opens by saying “So you love your game? So does he.” The idea is that your competitor might be training and fighting just as hard as you are — and that maybe you can get an extra edge by rehydrating with Gatorade, a point that Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt is on hand to make.

UNINASSAU: Productive Mothers Videocase

UNINASSAU

A lot needs to be compromised to take care of a microcephalic baby but the dream of a higher education doesn’t need to. Amidst the Zika Virus epidemic in 2016 a frightening number of pregnant Brazilian women were affected, giving birth to children with special needs. Many were abandoned and forced to quit their jobs. The Mães Produtivas Project of the University UNINASSAU is responsible for giving away full online higher education scholarships to these mothers so they don’t have to abandon their dreams. Now education and love are tied together.

Vitus: A lifetime in 60 seconds

Film
Vitus

In their latest ad, the Norwegian pharmacist Vitus took on a monumental project: to document the development of the human skin through an entire lifetime. In just 60 seconds. People come in all ages, shades and shapes. Vitus’ mission is to help everyone feel comfortable in their own skin and meet whatever changes they may face in the future. After all, we are all living proof that the only thing constant is indeed change. This project set out to document just that.

The result is a film with no less than 101 women from age zero to one hundred portrayed completely natural and without any retouching. Put together in a stop motion fashion the spectator is taken on a journey through generations and ultimately a time-lapse of an entire lifetime.
