CBS Upfronts: 'Young Sheldon' Gets Post-'Big Bang' Slot


CBS is giving the coveted slot after “The Big Bang Theory” on Thursday nights to the spinoff “Young Sheldon.”

The eye network will air six new series in the fall and picked up an additional two to air midseason.

But it chose to pass on the reboot of “American Idol” because the “economics made absolutely no sense for us,” CBS CEO Les Moonves told reporters Wednesday morning.

Ford's 1,400 Job Cuts Include Marketing Positions


Ford Motor Co. on Wednesday said it plans to cut 10% of its salaried employees in North America and Asia to cut costs amid slowing sales and growing investments in new technology.

The automaker will offer voluntary early retirement and special separation packages to roughly 1,400 white-collar workers in the two regions combined and expects the cuts to come by the end of September. Ford said nearly all of its “skill teams” will be affected, except for product development, Ford Credit, manufacturing, IT and global data and analytics.

A Ford spokesman said the reductions will affect corporate staff, including the finance, legal, human resources, communications, government, marketing, sales and service departments.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announces a new campaign designed to promote tourism at historic equal rights attractions across New York. The campaign is being rolled out in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in New York State. The first TV commercial of this campaign features the Susan B. Anthony house in Rochester. Additional commercials planned in the campaign will feature equal rights destinations like the Harriet Tubman home in Auburn and the Stonewall National Monument in Manhattan.
