“I am an illustrator and designer based in Bangalore, India. I graduated with a BFA in Applied Arts from College of FineArts Thrissur, Kerala. I am currently working as a designer in Chumbak.
Apart from dreaming visuals all day long, I love watching abstract movies, listening to great melodies and riding my bicycle all over town. ”
Why are you an Illustrator?
I started drawing ever since I was a kid. Of course, it was just a hobby then. After schooling I realised that Art is my world and I didn’t want to do anything that didn’t involve art.
Did you attend school for fine art or design?
Yes, I pursued Fine Art.
You have a distinct style of illustration. How long did it take you to develop your style?
Thanks. I think every art person has his/her own style, his/her own identity and own Art/ Illustrations/Designs.
For me, it took a couple of years to develop my own subjects, style and craft.
Were there any particular role models for you when you grew up?
No particular role models in my life, but I really admire the life and works of Vincent Van Gogh.
Who was the most influential personality on your career in Illustrations?
My parents. They are not artists themselves, but they gave me all the freedom in the world to pursue my own happiness.
What made you decide to become a freelance illustrator? When did you start freelancing? Do you illustrate for advertising?
I’m actually a part-time freelance illustrator.
Are many advertising agencies getting illustrations made these days? Do you work more with agencies or publishers?
More with publishers.
Was there any time when you wanted to quit Illustrations?
No way!
Have you exhibited your work? Tell us about the experience.
I’m planning my first exhibition of works this year.
Any other Indian Illustrators who you admire?
Yes, artist Nampoothiri. His works are simple and have a unique style.
Do you have any favorite fellow illustrators or resources relating to your fields?
Yes, I do have a couple of fellow Illustrators & Designers who I admire.
You have such a wide experience as a top working professional. What advice do you have for aspiring creative professionals? Would you advise them to take on Illustration as a career option? Is it paying well enough?
Yes. The only thing I can say is do what you want, express as much as you can and remember in some way art
is a form of story telling. So be a good storyteller with your own style.
Now the situation is changing in India so there is good hope for well payed Illustrators.
Whats your dream project?
A comic book illustrated and written by myself.

Anyone with a good heart..
