CHALLENGE
The importance of voting is something that is not considered to be of much
significance to most of the people. 45% turn out during the previous Lok
Sabha elections states the sorry figure. To defy that logic, Visual
Communications wanted to create a communication that urged the people to
vote. The voting day was declared a holiday in the agency.
SOLUTION
A poster was created with INDIA written in Hindi with the dot missing. The
concluding line says – one dot of yours can change the face of the nation.
The poster was put up in various offices and restaurants adjoining our
agency in Andheri East.
RESULT
The communication was well appreciated and resulted in 53.6% voting from
Andheri East.

Posted in: UncategorizedChina Just Overhauled Its Advertising Law: Here's What You Need to Know
Posted in: UncategorizedChinese legislators just updated the country’s advertising law, which hadn’t been overhauled since 1994 — well before the arrival of many Western brands, and before the internet took off.
The legislation, which goes into effect Sept. 1, will affect everything from brands’ use of celebrity endorsers to how baby formula can be promoted. It bans the use of China’s flag in ads. It says people must be able to close online pop-up ads with a single click (intrusive ads are still ubiquitous on China’s internet). And in a country of more than 300 million smokers, the law cracks down harder on tobacco advertising.
The updated legislation fits into a general trend of strengthening consumer protections in China, where food-safety scandals and quality issues are common, and it increases fines for false advertising.

Posted in: UncategorizedBest Buy Moves Away From Agency-of-Record Model
Posted in: UncategorizedBest Buy is ditching its agency-of-record model in favor of hiring shops on a project basis and bringing more work in-house, the company said.
The move means that Boulder, Colo.-based Crispin Porter & Bogusky, the retailer’s long-time creative lead, will soon have to pitch for individual projects alongside other agencies if it wants to continue working with the client.
CP&B has completed work through the back-to-school season, said Jeff Haydock, a spokesman for Best Buy. Next, the company will open up the bidding process to agencies for the holidays — retail’s biggest time of year. CP&B is welcome to participate, he said.

We Hear: Multiple Agencies Pitching Jay-Z’s Tidal
Posted in: UncategorizedHere’s a story that is probably too ridiculous to be true.
We hear that Tidal, the Jay-Z-owned music streaming service that launched earlier this month and now qualifies as a certifiable flop, is looking to New York ad agencies to help the public forget about its missteps and achieve the untouchable status of Beats (owner Apple, AOR R/GA).
On reviewing the agency-free debut ad for Tidal that dropped on March 30th, we simply cannot imagine why the service hasn’t taken off:
Our insistent tipster claims that four of New York’s best-known agencies are in the process of pitching the business this week: one from Omnicom, one from MDC, and two from WPP.
No one will confirm this, of course.
In the meantime, let Mr. Carter keep thinking that his newest project’s struggles stem from the “many big companies that are spending millions on a smear campaign.“
