Despite a proliferation of Internet-connected technologies aimed at consumers, businesses and governments, there have been few if any regulatory standards or policies devised to meet today’s questions regarding proper collection and use of data created by IoT. The 10 policy principles are intended to guide regulators in crafting policies for IoT data collection and use, and focus on preventing rules that could be deemed overly restrictive.

Pitch update: Dixons Carphone, Public Health England, Ribena, Coeliac UK

The pitches for Dixons Carphone s 90 million merged media planning and buying account took place this week. Walker Media, the Dixons Retail partner, and M/SIX, which holds the Carphone Warehouse business, were hoping to beat each other and MediaCom to retain the account. The review was called after the 3.9 billion “merger of equals” between Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse.
Public Health England has launched a review of its planning business, currently handled by MEC. The Government s planning roster agencies have been invited to pitch for the account. They include Carat, Manning Gottlieb OMD, MEC, MediaCom, Mindshare and UM London.
Ribena s search for a UK advertising agency after splitting with M C Saatchi is progressing. The drinks brand had initial conversations with several shops and has now selected three to go through to pitch. The lucky (and unlucky) agencies were finding out as Campaign went to press.
Coeliac UK , the charity for those with the autoimmune disease, is looking for its first ad agency to create a campaign to raise UK diagnosis rates.
