Facebook is about to start intermittently nagging you, but it’s not like they haven’t done this before.
Facebook has always cared about your privacy. Seriously. I’m as critical of them as the next guy, but they know as well as anyone else, one step too far, and Facebook can, and would, go the way of MySpace. These are the things insomnia is made of, well, that and clowns.
The sites used a pinwheel icon, which means something is loading slowly, to show users what it would be like if Internet traffic was slowed.
It’s fashion week and Hugo Boss invites us via Marco Brambilla to a magical forest, built once upon a dream where our model Suvi Koponen is surrounded by herself, walking between the trees in a forest.
We’ve talked a lot at Adland about how the advancement of technology has unfortunately eroded some of our ethical standards, especially when it comes to music. And yet for every musician rightly shaking their fist at what streaming, webcasting and big tech companies have done to their livelihood, a few are attempting to circumvent the issues.
Twitter Inc. is tapping debt markets for the first time, with plans to raise as much as $1.5 billion to invest in acquisitions and expansion.
The San Francisco-based microblogging company is selling the convertible bonds in two $650 million pieces, one maturing in five years and one coming due in seven years, according to a regulatory filing today. The size of the offering may increase to $1.5 billion if the banks involved decide to participate.
Twitter, which isn’t projected to be profitable this year, has been investing to build up its advertising business and add engineers who can help tweak its product to appeal to a broader audience. Executives see an opportunity in the debt market to raise more cash cheaply with little immediate dilution of their shareholders’ ownership, according to a person familiar with the matter. The company was inspired by technology leaders, including Google Inc. and Netflix Inc., successfully offering debt while borrowing remains inexpensive, the person said.
In this stunning but haunting, and at some points even physically uncomfortable to watch, video a man runs through the forest as a rain of arrows chase him down. And pierce right through him. And he just keeps running.
