Vidal Sassoon tames unruly, satanic hair

Sassoon For the past several years, I’ve suffered through a slow, teary falling out with my hair. (Ha! … Hey, that’s not funny! … Damn, I made myself feel bad.) Which brings us to a spot that crosses low-rent Twilight Zone imagery with a typical Vidal Sassoon commercial. Appropriately enough, it is a Sassoon spot (click the box on the right side), tagged “Your hair knows” and promising “answers” to every conceivable styling question. I have only one: How could you leave me this way? Though, if my once-abundant locks began mumbling satanically and reached out to unplug the dryer, I’m pretty sure I’d scream like a maniac and yank out every last remaining strand.

Alltel sales guys haven’t changed one bit

Alltel What were Chad and the Alltel “sales guys” like as kids? I’d hoped to make it safely to the grave without ever finding out. No such luck. In Campbell-Ewald’s “Lemonade Stand,” we see how it all began. They were whiners as kids, and they’re whiners now. Talk about arrested development. And I mean that in terms of the overall campaign. It feels a bit tired at this point. The series probably reached its zenith last holiday season with the Rankin-Basstastic animated “sales guys” in “Santa’s Little Helper.” In terms of the new spot, well, calling Chad a “ding dong” was a nice touch. It’s just so true.
