Beyoncé a little too dark for L’Oréal’s taste?

Beyonce3

It’s hard to believe L’Oréal is flat-out denying the notion that it digitally lightened Beyoncé Knowles for her latest L’Oréal ad, appearing in the new issue of Elle magazine. Beyonce’s publicist, humorously, tries to sidestep the issue with this ludicrously bland quote: “There is no doubt that anyone seeing that ad will know that it is Beyoncé.” A rep for the National Association of Black Journalists, meanwhile, says magazines should be sensitive to perceptions that light-skinned African Americans are more acceptable to the public. The only person we’ve yet to hear from is Beyoncé herself, which is understandable. If she were to speak now, there’s a good chance a different voice would come out of her mouth.

Nielsen in deal with online ad firm to boost online campaigns

LONDON – The Nielsen Company and Nugg.ad have signed a pan-European partnership in a deal that will bring together the market research firm’s data with the predictive marketing firm to boost online advertising.

PETA reaches now lows of tacky, tasteless and just plain mean.

In their most tasteless effort yet to squeeze themselves the news on the tails of real tragedy PETA compares bus decapitation to animal slaughters. “People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals submitted an ad for publication in the Portage Daily Graphic this week that compared the murder of Tim McLean, 22, to the “needless killing” of chickens, cows and pigs in “factory farms.”” Yeah, because when a dude on a greyhound bus decapitates and cannibalizes another rider, I think of chickens.

The copy of the ad reads:

Manitoba . . . an innocent young victim’s throat is cut . . . His struggles and cries are ignored . . . The man with the knife shows no emotion . . . The victim is slaughtered and his head is cut off . . . His flesh is eaten . . . It’s still going on!

And even though the ad hasn’t run as the Portage Daily Graphic refused it, PETA admits they got quite a lot of hate mail for it.

Other ad stories related to the horrific murder on the greyhound bus: When a simple line goes horribly wrong adfreak tells the story that Greyhound pulled their “nobody has ever heard of Bus Rage” campaign, now that everyone has heard of bus decapitation.

Another fine example of human vultures who like to ride of news for their cause – the Westboro Baptist Church were stopped at border of Canada, after announcing that they picket Mr. McLean’s funeral to let Canadians know that his decapitation was God’s response to Canadian policies enabling abortion, homosexuality and adultery.

People are really messed up.

We track brand buzz so you don’t have to

Buzzmetrics_2 If you sat around analyzing the volume of brand-name mentions on blogs, we’d think you were obsessive and weird and wasting your life. When we do it, it’s called vital industry research. So, be sure to check out Adweek.com’s Brands Blog Buzz feature, written by AdFreak’s own Tim Nudd. Using blog-crunching technology from Nielsen’s BuzzMetrics division, it offers a daily analysis of why certain brands are getting attention—good or bad. This week, for example, includes a look at the rise and fall (and rise again) of Pinkberry; the ruckus surrounding a bogus KFC in Iraq; consumers’ undying taste for Ikea’s food; and Victoria’s Secret’s connection to some not-so-sexy unmentionables from a certain other Victoria. We’ve added a daily photo link to the right column here on AdFreak, pointing you to the latest buzz piece. So, if you’ve been doing this kind of research yourself, now’s the time to stop. And find a better hobby, like collecting the underwear of long-dead monarchs.

Partizan Media: Sticker

Sticker

Idea
If you open a new magazine, first of all you thumb through it. This is
an emotional feature. Then you open the page with a table of contents
and a article of the editor. It is cognitive feature.

The reader takes a hot of magazine in hands and thumbs through it. He
searches for allocated objects. This psychological feature is considered
at creation of guerrilla advertising. The bent page with advertising is
the first of such objects. The reader will necessarily open this page
when he will thumb through magazine. But a basis of provocation is a
sticker which was pasted on page with a word of the editor. The purpose
was to make impression, that the worker of the edition has left the
message to the editor-in-chief. And the magazine has casually got in
sale. The reader compares with a sticker and direct advertising. He
precisely remembers the name and branch of the company.

Result
Advantage of journal guerrilla advertising is addressing to different
kinds of memory: visual, emotional, tactile. As the result is increase
of quantity of calls to the company on 60 %
