Today in Twitterverse: Holland House
Posted in: UncategorizedCanadian photographer, Kris Krug, is in China for the Olys and Dutch beer.
Uhm… God bless Holland. Heineken House rawks. More croquettes, frites, beers and blondes than I know what to do with. 😉
This video is the work of Robert Scales, another Vancouverite in China.
I’m thinking Krug and Scales might know each other.
Good News, We Like it…We Swear
Posted in: UncategorizedOK so I’ve received a few comments indicating that at least a few of you want to hear more about the good word that’s going on out there. Apparently we spend too much time on the work that’s lost that the work that’ won — and the people that lose their jobs when fit hits the shan.
So we’re trying a little experiment. If your agency does something cool and you want to share it, don’t wait for your PR crew to let us know. We don’t like talking to them anyway.
We’ve given you the handy-dandy anonymous tips box on the right side of the page (if you use this option to send a link or something, be sure and let us know whodunnit), a fancy e-mail account (agencyspy@gmail.com) and AIM and Twitter (both AgencySpy).
You’ve been sending us great tips thus far, and we love you for it. Seriously, there’s a budding bromance here, we can feel it. OK bromance is a strong word, and since there’s a lot of ladies out there, it doesn’t really apply. Anyway, y’all are the knees, so share your talent conmigo.

Apparently, No One Thought This Was a Bad Idea
Posted in: UncategorizedSpain’s Olympic basketball teams may have pissed off their Chinese hosts by posing for two photos (one of which is above) in which players can be seen pulling the skin on the sides of their eyes, a predication of their upcoming trip to Asia.
Accompanying the players is a picture of a dragon, which is painted on the floor of the basketball court they appear to be standing on.
A photo of this nature was taken for both the men’s and women’s teams, and was apparently used in an ad for one of the team’s sponsors, a courier company. Although originally reported by the Guardian, CBC news points out that, “…those making the pose in the men’s ad are Toronto Raptors point guard Jose Calderon, Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol, as well as Portland Trail Blazers rookie Rudy Fernandez.
There’s no word on which courier company is responsible for the photo.

A Brand’s Message Board Is Also A Consumer Generated Ad (for better or worse)
Posted in: UncategorizedPete Blackshaw, author of Satisfied Customers Tell Three Friends, Angry Customers Tell 3,000, wrote a piece for Ad Age about the customer contact form and how stiff it is—an odd thing in a world where conversations with customers are so highly valued.
I dare you to find a feedback form that winks even a quasi-friendly smile. And if you find one that allows consumers to truly communicate in their native voices — complete with links, photos, audio clips or videos — I’ll eat my just-published book.
“The marketing department doesn’t see this as part of their remit — it involves operations, the legal department and a host of bureaucratic policies that they can’t begin to tackle. It’s bigger than they are,” explained Carat CEO Sarah Fay.
Where are you with this problem? Do you recommend conversational solutions to your clients?
