MINNEAPOLIS (AdAge.com) — Much has been written about hospitality of Olympian proportions in Beijing, as the city and China as a whole take their place on the world stage as an honor, and a responsibility. But one of Beijing's greatest acts of hospitality may have occurred in negotiations invisible to the public, when Olympic organizers agreed to schedule some of the most compelling competition for weekday mornings, which means live prime-time coverage in the U.S.
Gap Goes Back to Advertising
Posted in: Uncategorized
NEW YORK (AdAge.com) — Gap is advertising again. Gap Inc. CEO Glenn Murphy took a tough stance on advertising this spring, noting that the company had trimmed marketing expenditures 18% during the first quarter of the year and would have no qualms about continuing to pare back if its brands didn't meet certain criteria. Now, with a fall campaign rolling out for Gap touting the first full collection by new head designer Patrick Robinson, it looks as if Mr. Murphy thinks Gap is on the right track.

We focused on interactivity with the user. We chose two interactive guides (male and a female). Users are given opportunity to choose one of them. After a short introductory sequence appears a simple form where user can insert his/hers phone number. If he does so then the guide appears again pretending to write a text message saying: „Nice, check your phone for new message“. And really – the user receives a text message from the guide (text of the msg says: „Hi, my name is Agata/Jakub, nice to meet you. How are you doing? How bout a little chat? Write me something and watch me:-)“ If the user replies then his text message appers directly on the display of the phone of our guide (guide shows you his display so that you can clearly see your text on the display of the guide´s mobile).
After this short éntré you are given the opportunity to ask (with keywords) our guides whatever you want. You can ask them either directly on the website via input box or via sending texts from your mobile. When you input a keyword and press enter (or when you send a text message from your mobile with some keyword) the guide will perform a videoreaction. We shooted hundreds of short videoreactions on greenscreen on different keywords. Lots of videoreaction is enhanced with cute animations (sometimes with double meanings:-).
When a user enters a keyword which is not included in our database then follows one of the generic (neutral) reactions.
Apart from this on-line part of the web we prepared offline part as well. We designed a chat via texts based on artificial inteligence. We translated and implemented Alice (Alicebot) an open source solution. This means that you can „talk“ with our guides in real-time. You send text and he/she replies to you and so on. The toughest part was to distinguish Alice from the rest of the web, because you send keywords as well as conversation texts on the same phone number.
The website is entirely in Czech language, I hope you can still make enough use of it and see some reactions. Definitely you (and people who don´t speak Czech) will be able to see 10 most popular reactions for each of the guides which you can find right underneath the input box („Top 10 reakce“ – click on the link and different word is set into the input box).
Nice part of the website you can find under menu item „Sout?ž“ (Competition). After clicking on it a layer pop-up appears. You can dragg it wherever you want. Click „Start“ in the blue circle and videoreaction for this week appears. Users are prompted to guess the right keyword for which the specific videoreaction is created. You can enter as many keywords as you wish until you guess the right one. There is a different competition video for each of the guides. Each week we put there a new video which means ech week there is one winner. The competition was designed in cooperation with Sony Ericsson which means the prize is 20 mobile phones (each of the 10 weeks 1 winner for each section).
