Twitter is Going Crazy About Vanity Fair’s New Cover. Here’s Why


As of this writing, mid-afternoon on Monday, Vanity Fair is a top 10 trending topic on Twitter in the U.S., along with #SuperBowl, #PhilipSeymourHoffman and #EsuranceSave30. Why? Because the Twittersphere collectively seems to genuinely love the magazine’s annual Hollywood Issue cover, its 20th annual.

In the past, Vanity Fair’s March covers have been criticized for being a bit… monochromatic. (See, for instance, “Vanity Fair’s ‘New Hollywood’ issue completely lacks diversity,” from 2010, when the magazine’s cover choices — all white women — were especially uniform.)
