Why are you into Advertising?
There is always a scope to do something new or different when you are working in advertising. Getting to work on multiple brands and to come up with a new idea or design is a every day challenge which I love as a creative person and it keeps me going.
Did you attend school for fine art or design or Communications?
Yes. I am a commercial arts graduate from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune.
Were there any particular role models for you when you grew up?
My Parents are my role model. Their ideals, struggles and involvement in social work over the years has the biggest impact on my life growing up.
Who was the most influential personality on your career in Advertising?
There are more than one. Kaushik Saha from Pune gave me my first opportunity in advertising, Keigan Pinto for encouraging me to think holistically and Shailesh Khandeparkar for pushing me further in my design skills.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Absolutely anything that is well designed. Be it art or music or a video, there is design in everything that we see.
Tell us about your personal favourite campaign that you worked on…
It was a fun design project involving fabrics but unfortunately it did not see the light of day.
What do you think of the state of Print advertising right now. At least here in India, the released work is most often too sad?
Demand for a print ad has declined as clients have shifted to a more digital first approach to reach their target audience.The time allotted to make a creative is crucial. When there is a tight deadline, the quality will obviously suffer.
Do you think brands who’s advertising wins awards, do well in the market?
Not always.
Do you think awards help clients push the creativity in the branding efforts?
Yes.
What advice do you have for aspiring creative professionals?
See more and more good work and keep an observing eye.
What’s your dream project?
Directing my own film
Where do you see yourself in 15 years?
Doing my own thing. Most probably in design.
