Google Joins Brands’ Pre-Olympic Protest of Russia’s Anti-Gay Law


American brands continue to take a stand against Olympic host Russia’s intolerance of gay rights.

The day before the 2014 Winter Olympic Games officially kick off in Sochi, Google revamped its home page with a Winter Olympic-themed doodle in the colors of the gay pride flag. Below the image the company posted a couple anti-discrimination lines from the Olympic Charter.

“The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play,” quoted the company.
