Google: Google Pixel 4 Dance Off

Swift was tasked with generating breakthrough ideas to showcase the tech of the new phone, including one standout feature called Motion Sense. A technology that creates a radar bubble around the phone to capture hand movements and gestures.

To highlight this, our team pitched the idea of creating a DJ rig capable of building a song using only the wave of a hand. we worked with partners Deep Local to create an instrument built with 8 Pixel 4 phones and millions of tiny LED lights. each device has a different sample loaded to it – bass, kicks, strings etc – and as the DJ swipes over, they can build a track in real time.
swift + google unveiled this Motion Sense DJ Rig at the latin GRAMMYs, partnering with Latin X music artists Karol G and DJ Felo to create a live experimental musical performance. our behind the scenes video provides a glimpse into this new technology, the build and rehearsals with DJ Felo and Karol G leading up to the performance.
