Depaul Slovakia: Ice man

Cold has several beneficial effects on the human body, but not if you are involuntarily exposed to it for as long as homeless people are. They have to endure freezing temperatures for whole nights, not just a few minutes. They are thus involuntary ice men who have nowhere to warm themselves.

The spot features an ice man, trainer and mental coach Ján Bakala and depicts individual stages and effects of hypothermia on the human body which are shown in the form of a dramatisation – from rapid lowering of blood pressure, through disorientation, to cardiac arrest. Similar to what people on the street and victims of hypothermia experience.
